    Confessions at the dinertable, a Bette and Tina Beginning

    Steves mother was now nodding in agreement, looking at the both of us.

     

    I couldnt help it, I smiled at the oddness of the situation. But then Steve got up and I saw his embaressment and anger reach a boilingpoint.

     

    Damn! Mum… Dad! Im gay ok! Will you stop now?

     

    And he threw the napkin that had been on his lap on the table, before he stormed out of the room.

     

    The silence that followed was unbearable.

     

    Then I heard the little girl next to me get up and she ran upstairs after her friend before anybody could stop her. I couldnt help the smile on my face when she did.

     

    I glanced over at Tina who was looking shocked, but it seemed like when she caught my eyes she snapped out of it. She looked at me, still in surprise but determent now. And without breaking the silence she got up and followed her niece.

     

    I cut a piece of my chicken and put it in my mouth, waiting for someone to break the silence.

     

    Finally Alexanrda cleared her throat…

     

    What a shame…

     

    My eyes shot open as I heard her remark… From all the people on that table Id least expected that remark from her and I almost choked in my chicken…

     

    Now Tom Parker was adressing me again:

     

    I am very sorry Bette… I thought you two were compatible…

     

    At the same time Alex mumbled:

     

    Hes such a cute boy…

     

    And Julia snapped:

     

    Ive always said he was gay.

     

    Now I looked up at them all with what I hoped was great dignity:

     

    I think, Mr Parker, that Steve being gay makes us even more compatible

     

    They all looked at me with big eyes now.

     

    I… Im sorry Bette, but I do not understand?

     

    Im gay too…

     

    But Bette… Such a beautifull woman like yourself

     

    Again Alexandra surprised me and I started to laugh

     

    Mrs Kennard I assure you that me being gay has nothing to do with not being able to get a hold of a man

     

    It didnt get passed me that she didnt reassure me to call her Alex this time and to my surprise it hurted.

    3. Oh, bummer now I have to wait to see how Tina reacted to the I Love You from Bette. I like Steve and I hope that him and Bette could become friends. I also hope that Tina’s family does not give her grief over Bette. I believe that Alex may have already figured it out that Tina may like Ms. Bette. Hopefully, we will see a lot more of Rosy also. As far as the straight and taken mantra, I guess that I thought I was safe (parents and religion) but in the long run I wasn’t, and I keep getting my heart broken. Now, I just hang out reading FF and watching General Hospital (daytime soap opera). Oh and going to work. Thanks for the kind words and I like how you have developed the characters of your story.

    4. So I waited what? Two days for a chapter and YOU MADE ME CRY!!!!! *gives you several playful thumb jabs in the side* So I was right about Steve huh? That makes about 3 times in fanfiction where my gaydar has been spot on. Now why doesn’t it work like that in real life?! And why can’t it work better for me for women!!!!? lol Please don’t leave us with this cliffhanger for too long. By the way Bette’s mini-monologue was spot on. I hope Tina’s mom has gotten over Bette being gay because she was so nice. Everyone besides her, Steve, and Rosy can fuck a duck.

    5. i was right about steve… and i’m hope they talk on the way home… i’m sure they will… love this story…please continue soon… and my son is NOT going to be a surgeon… hes more into the natural way of healing… doesn’t like all of the meds on the market… take one med… and it could do something to other parts of the body… what are you studing…

    22. hi! this was a hard-hitting dinner, i didn’t think tha they was that way but They will have that use to cause Tina has a little surprise for they too. I like the ” i love you” it was shocking!in my country first we have to study for 6 years to graduate in general practitioner (i don’t know how you called in your country) and in the next september i will start to study to graduate me in radiology. well i hope you understand me. take care

    25. I feel like riding a roller coaster when reading ur story… my heart swell and ache for Bette. This is just so hard when both of 2 ppl are in the period of ‘guessing’, it’ll definitely make me insane to have hope at one time then being smashed to the reality ground at the very next second. Hopefully B&T could make it out before they have to guess each other for the rest of their life… *sigh* And since Tina’s mom can read her so well, I guess she’d known and just staying in the world of denial…
