The B Word.Chapter 46 Bandages & Beloved Ones

The scene opens with an Ambulance arriving at the hospital.

Its hereThe intern yells out as he and two others run out to meet the ambulance.
They are now racing the gurney through the emergency doors.
The nurses and doctors are working on a young female.
Take her to Trauma Unit 1 The head of surgery yells out.

Then two other ambulances pull up
Two more girls are rushed throughThen a guy.

Maria, Alice, Dana, Kit, Alana, and Dominic come rushing through the emergency area
Where are they? Wheres my daughter and her wifeWhere are they? Alana is shouting.
Dominic is trying to keep her calm
Maria and Kit both are bleeding so a nurse is trying to get them to calm down.
She wants to get them both treated.
Miss your going to need stiches The nurse says to Maria who has a nasty
gash on arm and some scratches on her face.

Ms I think we really need to get you in for x-rays.just to make sure nothing is broken. The nurse says to Kit. Kit is in pain but not because of her injuries but she is sick about her sister and Tina.

Im fineMaria announces as the nurse has now gotten a couple of guys to help get
Maria calm down so they can treat her wounds.

No Damn”it I want to see my sister and Tina..The baby wheres the baby??
Maria is yelling. Dominic goes over to her
Maria you have to calm down.I know you are really worried but your not going to do any good getting upset.Let them do what they need to do. Dominic says in a calm voice.

The baby is fine.We just want to keep her under observation for a little while to make sure there is nothing wrong. A female resident named Anita says.

Hi Mari I am Dr. Lombardo She says to Maria..
She starts to look at the wound and has she gives her nurse directions on what to do.

I will go and check on your sister and her partner for you as long as you promise you will listen to these nice nurses. Dr. Lombardo comments to Maria.

I would like to have some test run on Maria and Kit .blood workjust to make sure everything is ok.

The nurses, doctors, and assistants are working frantically on a girl with blonde hair.
Doctor she is flat lining A nurse yells out.
Clear.. A man yells as he tries to shock the heart back into working.
Nothing. Another man yells out..
They are trying everythingBut the patient is not responding to anything.

An older doctor named Phillips walks out into the waiting room.
He is greeted by a man and a woman.You see them break out into tears.
They are holding each other..

Alice, Dana, Jenny, and Carmen see this.They try to hide Alana from it.

Kit Porter. A handsome young doctor says to herI love your music
You have a nice voice..Im Dr. Walters. He is taking a look at Kits neck area.
Looks like maybe the seatbelt got you or something.. Dr. Walter comments as he
Its going to be sore for a whileIt might even affect your vocal chordsbut its only going to be temporary.


In trauma unit two..The doctors are working on working on Bette.
They are trying to find out where she is bleeding internally.
The chief of surgery, Dr. Youngman, is giving orders people are working fast to try meet his every demand.

I found it A young resident yells out.
Lets prep for surgery Dr. Youngman states.

A social worker goes out to the lobby and requests to see Bettes family.
She escorts them to a private area.
She takes the Alana and Dominic go back with her.
Hi Alana.I am so sorry to see you here Sally Martin, a social worker and colleague of Alana states.
How are they? Alana says with tear flowing down her face.
Bette is in serious condition and they are going to operate. Sally says
Because she is so healthy and young they dont see any worry for complications.
They are taking her back now.

Can we see her first? Alana asks as Dominic is holding her.
YesCome with me. Sally says.
Just then they were wheeling Bette to surgery.
Bette honey this is your mom and Dominic.We loveyou —your in good hands.
Sally says as she squeezes Bettes hand.

They gave her some pretty strong drugs for the surgery so she is out of it. Sally adds.

Does Miss Kinnard have any family besides Bette? Sally asks
Um yes but no one is local..I also dont think they have spoken for a while. Alana adds.
How is she? Alana asks starting to cry again.
She is going to be fine..She had to get a couple of stitches. She looked the worse one because of the bleeding but we have her all cleaned up now. Would you like to go and see her? She asks Alana

Yes. Alana goes with her to see Tinawith Dominic in tow.
Tina Honey I am so glad you are ok. Alana says as she starts to hug
Tina..
Im good.just sore and bruiseda couple of stitch here. Tina says.
What about Bette? Tina asks starting to cry Is she ok? Where is she.?
Dominic explains Bettes condition to her..
Then you see the nurse bringing Anna Bella to Tina.
She is a brave little babyshe is so goodI think she is fine.but here are somethings to watch for in the next 48 hours. Dr. Lombardo states.

Everyone now is in a private waiting room.Tina, Kit, and Maria have joined everyone.
Dominic is carrying the baby.

Anyone want some coffee, juice, or snacks.. Dominic asks but no one is interested in eating.

Dominic brings back some stuff anyway. Everyone starts drinking the coffee he brought back,,

Just then the Chief of Surgery walks into the area
Elizabeth Porters family? He asks
He sits with them and shows them a diagram of what he just did.
Since she was so healthy and young.she is going to fully recover
She pulled the surgery with flying colors.

She is will be in the recovery unit until she wakes up.Then we will move her to a private room. Dr. Youngman explains..
