    The ‘B’ Indentity

Bette and CI6 have a sort of love-hate relationship that begins the moment she came to.  Fatefully, her hasty move to open the bedroom door that day saved her life.  The strength of the blasted her broken body through the door, shattering the decorative window, and just before she landed under a mountain of debris, her last conscious sight caught the blonde immobile form hurled into the same air.

She came to three months later.  The force of the explosion completely demolished the house and changed her. They found her maimed body and had stitched, dissected, and repaired it originality into an alien proportion.

“Ms. Parker you’re awake!” A familiar voice and face appeared the moment her eyes flutter opened. Regrettably, her memory was still in tact.  She recognized and was more surprised with his presence.  Sheldon Tomlin in the flesh, months after she rejected his Winter Impression display for the CAC.

“Do you know who I am?” Sheldon asked seeing the frown on her face.  She nodded.

“You probably wonder why I’m here or how you ended up here.  There’s plenty of time to answer that later but more importantly welcome back.  You were lucky to survive that blast and we’ve work hard to keep you that way.”

The entire time Sheldon was rambling on, images from the incident flashed across her mind.  She remembered entering the house, placing the flower bouquet on the kitchen table, glass shattering, running after an intruder, and rushing toward the bedroom.  Her thought process stopped and blank out once the blast hit, prompting her to asked the question she feared.

“Ti…” Her hoarse voice mustering the strength to confirmed the inevitable.

“Rest for now Ms. Parker and we’ll talk once you’re well enough to do so.  You might not like what you’ll hear so don’t rush it.  You’re safe here at our facility for now.”  The man ignored her feeble attempt to stress his.  He ended the brief visit with an instruction for the nurse to care for her well with a daily report of her progress.

Eventually, she was informed of the truth.  It was her vocal dissent on Capitol Hill that led to retribution.  The force behind the opposing sanction had ordered a soft hit on her.  The supposedly warning became fatal with the personal involvement of a zealous organization, the NIA.  A secret hired gun agency comprised of ex militants and rogue FBI agents.  Their leader had a personal vendetta against progress and proponent alike. Bette was their sacrificial lamb for her high profile visibility.
