Chapter 5

Alice stood there in front of the door for what felt like an eternity. Who else could give her advice now except Bette or Tina? With more hesitation she rang the bell and waited. „Angie, would you mind letting mummy go and open the door?“ Alice heard Tina saying inside. Tina opened the door and smiled at Alice, who was about to cry and rushed inside. As Alice entered she saw someone she didn’t expected. Sitting on the sofa was Jenny Schecter. Who, in Alice´s eyes, was the annoyance herself and a poor excuse for a writer. „Hello, Ms. Pieszecki. So nice to see you.“ Jenny said in her typical ‘I am the picture of togetherness and insanity’ – voice that annoyed Alice so much. „Tina, uhm…this might sound strange but…uhm could you ask Ms. Shecter over here to leave? I need to talk to you.“ Tina gave Alice a ‘Thank god you asked!’ – look and asked Jenny to leave. Which she did pouting and swearing under her breath so only Alice could hear it. Tina and Alice sat down and drank tea, which Angelica wanted too and started to play with her cup. „I slep with Lara, Tina!“ Alice announced. Tina let her cup fall out of her hand and the tea was all over the table. „Alice, could you please repeat that? I thought you just said you slept with Lara,“ Tina asked while cleaning up the mess with a little help from Angelica. Alice looked down. „Yeah, I said that. I meant that. Tina what the fuck is wrong with me? Why am I doing this? I mean….she is Dana´s girlfriend! How can I do such an awful thing to Dana?“ Tina turned to Angelica. „Angie, why don´t you go and visit Aunt Jenny and Uncle Max? I bet they would love to be visited by you.“ Angelica smiled and rushed off to Max and Jenny, giggling. „T, you let her go alone to the mad people´s house?“ Tina laughed loud, „Alice, Shane is there too. I think she can take care of Jenny and Max. Angelica loves them dearly lately…But back to your Lara thing. When did that start?“ „The day we were at Dana´s summer camp having our own funeral for her. God, in Dana´s apartment. In Dana´s bed!“ Alice sighed and rested her head on the palm of her left hand. Tina looked at her, watching her as Alice continued to speak. „Tina, one of us always runs away. First she, then me and then the kidnapping. Why is this happening? And then this strange thing with that nurse when Lara was at the hospital. The nurse that did not exist. God I jus….,“ but before Alice could finish her sentence she fainted. Tina was shocked. Immediately she called Bette who arrived a few minutes later. „T what is it? Is something with Angelica?“ Bette asked. Tina shushed her and motioned towards an unconcious Alice on the couch. „What happened T?“ Bette asked whispering. „In the kitchen okay?“ Bette and Tina walked into the kitchen and continued to talk. „Alice fainted. I think because she has an affair with Lara. And, well, obviously it is a bit too much for her. But I think this is not only an affair. Perhaps we should call Lara.“ Bette looked at Tina a bit confused. „Lara? Alice? An affair? Normally Alice does not faint because of an affair. Yeah, I think we should contact Lara. I bet her number is saved in Alice´s mobile.“ With that said Bette grabbed Alice´s bag and searched for her mobile phone. When she found it she looked for Lara´s number, which was indeed saved in it, and called it. „It rings.“ Bette said „Alice, where are you? I think we really need to talk.“ Lara answered the call. „Lara, it´s Bette. Can you please come over to our house? Alice left her bag here. Would you mind getting it? She is lost without it.“ „Uhm, okay. Bette. I will be there in a few minutes.“ Before Bette could say something more Lara had already hung up. Bette hung up as well and turned to Tina. „She is on her way. Now we have to make sure Alice is still unconcious, so we can talk to Lara. Any ideas ?“ Tina smiled and kissed Bette on the cheek. „Well, I’m sure our sleeping beauty over there won´t wake up for a while. I think all we can do is wait now.“
