    Previously…

Tina turned to Bette. She reached for her hand.  "Bette, I need you."

Bette sat by Tina’s head. She pressed her lips to the blonde’s forehead and felt Tina squeeze her hand. "I’m here. I’m not leaving you."  Bette was suddenly of afraid of what was yet to come.

    Chapter 24

The little girl, clutching her mother’s hand, looked up. Her mother released her hand briefly to lift her dark sunglasses so she could blot the tears that had gathered on the bottom of the sunglasses. She waited and her mother took her hand in hers once again. She stood and watched as her mother, Auntie Kit, Auntie Alice, Auntie Dana and Auntie Shane gathered dirt and threw it at the casket below.  The little girl began to cry. All she wanted was her mommy and her mommy’s hand holding her hand and her Mama’s hand, but she knew that it was not possible.

The tall brunette looked down at her daughter. Her throat tightened. She had tried to explain what loss was to the little girl. "Come on, Boo, let’s go home."

"I wish Mommy was here. I miss her. I want mommy, Mama," Angie cried.

Bette tried to smile. "Me, too."

Bette removed Tina’s favorite earrings, the art gallery earrings as it came to be known, from her lobes and placed them in Tina’s jewelry box. She closed the lid and traced the intricate pattern on the box.

Bette smelled a faint scent of jasmine in the air and felt a presence enter the bedroom. She smiled and closed her eyes. Tina .  She hoped her mind wasn’t playing tricks on her. "I’m sorry," she heard the voice whisper. Bette let out a breath and felt a warm embrace.

"I would have gotten here on time, but my flight couldn’t take off because of the weather." The blonde kissed her partner’s shoulder. "Forgive me?" The powers of be at work wanted her to oversee a crisis that had developed in Los Angeles that only she could handle and for five days she was handling it and solved it.

Bette turned and wrapped her arms around the blonde. "It was hard today. I brought Angie with me. She wanted to come and say goodbye to James."

    1. You had my heart thumping for a minute there, I was almost unable to continue. I am so glad that Tina was okay, and that Bette proposed, but it can’t be the end and am I sad that James died-but why-to me Bette needs James just as much as she loves Tina-James was with that woman from her own private gallery-to the CAC, to the University and was on his way to New York with Tina, Bette and Angie. I know it seems weird-but seeing how James is a somewhat a major player, I want to know how he died. I need more.

    2. Damn you scaree me there for a moment lol, that was great and sad for James, but happy for Bette and Tina and glad Tina are ok and can’t wait to see their big date. Please post more, thanks!

    3. Teegirl, you scared the water out of me with that first page. So sorry James is gone from Bette’s life but happy that Bette and Tina are okay.
