Chapter 46
Tina came running into the house yelling.
“Bette… Bette… Baby… I’m home…Bette…where are you?
She stopped and looked around. She didn’t see any evidence of her lover. She walked to the window and looked out to see if Bette’s car was there.
‘Shit I was so distracted I didn’t even notice her car wasn’t there. It’s 9:30 pm, I could have sworn I said I’d see her at home after the meeting…I think…’
Tina picked up her phone and quickly called Bette. The call went straight to voice mail. Tina sighed and hung up. She quickly checked her messages to see if Bette had called. ‘Nope’.
Tina stared at the empty room and let out a huge sigh and fell onto the couch. ‘Did I forget something? Where is she? Shit Kinnard, cut it out she’ll be home soon.’
Tina walked slowly to her room and began changing when she heard her cell. She raced for it, grabbed it and quickly flipped it open.
“Bette?”
“Hey T, where are you?”
“I’m home, where are you?”
“I’m home, I thought you said you’d come over after the meeting.”
“I just thought we meant we’d meet here…I’m sorry Babe I’ll be there in a half an hour…Sorry.”
“T its okay…um, it’s late. We’ll see each other in the morning. It’s silly to drive all this way now. You’re probably tired.”
“Bette I am, but we… um haven’t spent a night apart in a long time…um, I guess if that’s what you want…”
“T don’t get crazy, it’s only one night. It’s late I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to be driving around needlessly when you’re tired.”
Tina sighed. I guess…you’re right… um, oh yeah I wanted to tell you something…um, You know I’ve been helping Helena with this big Peabody fundraiser thing, well tonight was this big meeting with the whole board and everything well Peggy showed up and well the meeting was incredible. We went over everything and then at the end of the dinner Peggy pulled me aside and asked me to consider interviewing for a position with the foundation. Bette, apparently they are looking for a new Director for their West coast offices. Can you believe that?”

I do so wish Bette would not listen to Alice and her idiot assed ramblings. Most of the time I don’t like the things Alice says but, sometimes the idiot has a point and she always has Bette’s interests at heart. Thanks for posting.

Hey D&A! It’s great to have you back. I loved the update. I think it’s a good thing if Tina gets a job somewhere else. I don’t think it is that great to work with your partner especially if the said partner is your boss. PPS.
