    “I know how you feel Shane. I lost Dana–we all lost Dana. So we know how you felt when you lost Carmen.”

    “You be a good girl today, mommy will be here later to pick you up okay?”

     

    “Okay mommy,” Shane smiled at her little girl.

     

    “Give me a hug and a kiss.” Melody wrapped her arms around her mother and gave her a kiss. “I love you.”

     

    “I love you too.”

     

    “Have fun at school.” Melody pulled away from Shane and ran towards the door. Shane stood up and watched her daughter run into school. She took turned around and walked towards her car.

                    Shane arrived at the Planet and got out of her Mercedes. She swung the keys in her hand and walked in. She saw Alice and Helena sitting at a table and approached them.

     

    “G’d morning ladies,” Shane took a seat.

     

    “Morning,” they said simultaneously.

     

    “How’s Mel?” Shane looked at Alice.

     

    “She’s doing good, really good.”

     

    “How are you?” Shane looked at Helena.

     

    “I’m fine.” Shane leaned back in her chair. “I thought Bette and Tina were going to join us.”

     

    “They had to take Angelica to the doctors for her check up.” Shane nodded.

     

    “Hey Shane,” Shane looked up and smiled.

     

    “How you doing Kit?”

     

    “I’m good, can I get ya something?”

     

    “I’ll get the usual.” Kit smiled and said hi to Helena and Alice. She walked away.

     

    “I’ll be right back,” Helena got up from the table. Alice took a drink of her tea and sighed.

     

    “It’s been a year.”

     

    “What?” Shane looked at Alice.

     

    “It’s been a year.” Shane sighed heavily and looked away.

     

    “I know Alice, but I don’t want to think about it.”

     

    “I know how you feel Shane. I lost Dana—we all lost Dana. So we know how you felt when you lost Carmen.”

     

    “I really don’t want to think about it okay.” Shane looked at Alice.

     

    “All right, I won’t say another word.”  Alice took a drink of her coffee. Shane looked at her best friend and sighed.

     

    “I’m sorry Al—I didn’t mean to—,” Alice shook her head.

     

    “You don’t have to apologize Shane. It’s okay.” Alice smiled at her, and Shane smiled back.  Shane sat up in her chair.
