Chapter 22: Meet The Parents

Tina’s apartment, Los Angeles, Present Day; Normal POV

Bette and Tina lay with their limbs entwined and Bette’s head on Tina’s shoulder. They had drifted off into a peaceful sleep for the first time in seventeen years but little did they know their peace was about to be rudely interrupted. Tina was the first to wake and notice the locket around Bette’s neck. She had been too preoccupied last night to notice it

“You kept me close to your heart” Tina touches the locket with her fingers and smiles. Bette begins to stir at the sound of Tina’s soothing voice and touch

“Hey” Tina looks at Bette and smiles. She was home at last “Sleep ok?” Bette chuckled and softly kisses Tina’s chin

“I was in your arms of course I did” Tina kisses the top of Bette’s head and they fall into quiet slumber. They remained like that for another hour before they were interrupted by sound of a key turning in the lock and the muffled sound of voices

“Jake I just need to see my little girl” Jake was upset he had to leave his partner, Craig, back in Chicago so that Lois could come and visit Tina. It was a ritual and it wasn’t one Jake usually minded but it was his and Craig’s anniversary and he had something special planned

“Lois I’m sure she’s fine you’ll see” Jake and Lois enter the apartment, the first thing they notice is the trail of clothes leading to the bedroom “Wonder who it is this time?” Lois shoots Jake a nasty look as they close the apartment door. The noise of the door was enough to wake Tina

“Shit” Tina looks over at the clock ’10:20 am’ “Oh fuck I’m late for work” the distorted voices become more clearer and Tina’s eyes widen “Bette” she shakes Bette’s shoulder in an attempt to wake her “Baby you have to wake up my parents are here” Bette begins to stir a little

“What is it honey” Tina smiles and shakes her head before remembering her parents are heading towards her bedroom

“My parents are here” Bette is suddenly wide awake. Parents?
