“The feeling’s mutual” Kit looked at me, I think I had a glow about me that day and it all came from admitting my love to Bette “I’ve never met such a kind, loving, caring, selfless person like Bette before, I’ve realised just how lucky I am to have her in my life” I was lucky. I loved Bette more than life itself and she loved me. I didn’t care what people thought of us all I cared about was us being together and being happy

“And she’s lucky to have you in her life” It was then that my mobile began to ring. I smiled at the caller ID. Kit also knew who was calling me

“Hey baby” I could hear the muffled sounds of her crying. I knew immediately something was up “What’s up, what’s happened” Kit looked up at me. My face was a picture of concern

“My father has just been here” I looked at Kit and mouthed ‘Your Father’. Kit’s face dropped immediately “I really need you T” I picked up my bag and Kit picked up hers and we headed to Bette’s apartment together. We were both worried sick that Melvin had really upset Bette. We opened the door to Bette’s apartment. Bette was sat on her sofa, with her head in her hands. She was sobbing. Kit went into the kitchen whilst I went to comfort Bette

“Baby” Bette looked up at me; her face was tear strained “Oh babe” I walked over to her. I hated to see Bette so upset but I knew this wouldn’t be the last time. I sat down next to her and took her in my arms “It’s ok I’m here, I’m here” she sobbed into my shoulder. Kit walked into the lounge with a cup of coffee for Bette then mouths to me ‘I’m gonna go, she needs you more than me right now’ I looked at Kit and shook my head but before I could say anything she was out the door. I sighed and turned my attention back to my girlfriend “It’s gonna be ok” I stroked and kissed her hair as a means to calm her down

“Thank you for coming when I asked” I felt as it was my duty to race off and be with my girlfriend if she was sad or angry, it’s something I couldn’t help I just wanted to protect her

“Hey I’ll always be there if you need me OK you know I can’t stand to see you upset or angry because it makes me feel upset or angry or both” we chuckled. It was so good to hear her laugh, I loved it when she laughed because I knew then she was OK

“I love you” I smiled I never grew tired of hearing those words from Bette; they always brought sunshine to my day. They still do when I hear Bette in my head when I’m lonely or just missing her like mad.

“I love you too” I took Bette into another embrace. I can’t remember when we fell asleep but I do remember how natural and safe it felt to be lying in her arms.
