Bobbing her head to the music, Shane sat in a chair behind Carmen who worked the crowd with the music. She quietly laughed as Carmen would throw her arms in the air and start to dance for her. She bit her lip as she watched those curvy hips sway side to side. Carmen turned around and that finger of hers motioned for her to get up. Shane shook her head, although she could not help but smile at those dances moves of hers. Aw, come onnnnn, Carmen whined, grabbing both of Shanes hands to pull her up. Yet, Shane was still reluctant.

Anna stumbled her way over, drunk as *****, Shane! WHY ARE YOU SITTING! GET YOUR ***** UP! She began to dance with Carmen, who of course did not mind.

Shane finally stood up, but only to tend to Annas drunken self, Whoa Anna, I think you should sit down, take my seat”

Not until you dance withME! she laughed haughtily and grabbed onto Shane. They moved around slowly, and then suddenly Annas grip went limp while Carmen kept dancing.

Anna? Her eyes went wide, trying not to flail her arms too large since she had to keep her up, but it was enough to get Carmens attention, A little help here! She just passed out!

Carmen walked over and looked at Anna as Shane held her up, Okay move her into the house. Get her to wake upsober up a little. And Ill check up in a few minutes. Dont let anybody notice shes out, theyll freak, seriously.

Okay, Ill go do that Shane gulped as she looked at the heap of people she had to haul Anna through, but slowly and surely, Shane made it to the backdoor and she quickly set her down on the couch. Shane went to grab a bottle of water and some ibuprofen”knowing Anna would wake up with a major headache. She kneeled beside the couch, putting the bottle of water and pills on the floor as Anna slightly moved, Hey Shane reassured her with a hand on her arm. Then she started to snore softly, and Shane laughed, good night

She sighed and patted down Annas hair softly before turning around to sit against the arm of the couch. Well, nothing like a party when the person who the party is for is knocked out.

Tab sat in the back of the car, as Alice drove with Jenny trying to give her the directions. Tab rolled her eyes and put on her headphones to listen to some soothing music. However, she decides to give them her two cents, If its a big party then just listen for the ***** music, we should be close anyway

Jenny looked back, Youre a genius!

Tab scoffed, Right.

Alice pulled into a nearby driveway, across from the house. Jenny laughed, Borrowing a strangers driveway, Alice?

What? Itll be there tomorrow! Im only using it for a few hours. Alice sighed and unbuckled her seatbelt, Come on, time to party.

Tab leaned back in her seat, On second thought, Ill stay here. Shane was serious about not seeing me ever again.

Alice got out of the car and opened the back door, Look, its great that youre trying to obey what Shane said, but do you really want to pass up one great night over the fact that Shanes in there?

Jenny pushed Alice out of the way and warmed Tabs hand with hers, Come on stranger.

Tab looked into her humble blue eyes and caved, *****, fine She put on her hood and shifted to get out of her seat.

Aw dont do that, theyll think we want to rob the place, Alice said aloud. Tab groaned and placed herself back in her seat. Im just poking fun! The lack of sense of humor kills me these days.

The television put Shane into a daze of boredom, while the party still went on outside. She sighed and grabbed Matthews drawing out of her pocket just to stare at it again. She heard footsteps come through the sliding door and she looked up, Hey, decided to finally check up?

Yeah Whats that? Carmen asked, tilting her head at an angle so she could see it. She sat beside Shane who put the drawing on her lap. Carmen picked it up, reading the words, Me and my friendawwwhe likes you.

Shane sighed, Yeah, the little runt likes meand Im okay with that.

Carmen looked at Anna, who was still snoring, Still asleep, huh?

And still snoring. Shane laughed and pulled her knees up so she could rest her arms and head on it.

Shane folded the drawing and put it back in her breast pocket, Well, it was rather tough had to help Tab out of this situation but its all over now. And weve also went our separate ways.

[A few minutes earlier]

Jenny hooked her arm around Tabs as they entered the open front door”Alice went her own way and went through the back. The house was empty, seems as though most of the action was out back. Tab pulled away from Jenny, Look, I like you, but youre a little too close for comfort right nowno offense. Im going to hang out in here you go mingle with Alice out back And if you see Shane, dont tell her Im here.

Jenny sighed and folded her arms, Is it just your nature to push people away every ***** time they get close? I mean what the *****? Is it something you mooched off Shane? Im trying to be a friend. It seems like youre running low on those.

Look, Im doing you and me a favor”Now listen dont get involved with me. Tab shook her head and walked into the kitchen, leaving Jenny to throw her hands up in air with frustration. Tab looked around to see the pictures along the walls in the hallway. She saw a television on in the distance. She sees Carmen walk in through the sliding door, and she jumps out of sight into the bathroom. Tab listened closely to the other voicea familiar tone. One she could never mistake for another. She cursed to herself, and then silenced herself as she overheard their conversation. Tired? Nahtonight is good. Last night was a *****. Until I got home of course Oh really? Whys that? She grabbed a beer and guzzled it down, loving the atmosphere, Just like old times she muttered to herself.

Shane looked back at Anna, placed the bottle of water and pills next to her, Yeah, youre right She stood up, patted down her pants, and smiled, wrapping a playful arm around Carmens shoulder.

They walked through the door, and slid it closed. Shane looked around, Well, looks like nobody noticed the absence of Annas presence.

Carmen rubbed Shanes stomach with the palm of her hand, Hey, thats a good thingshes fine, and theyd be too serious about it. Im sure shell wake up in a few minutes.

Shane nodded and examined the crowd; she raised her eyebrow as she saw what it seemed to be Alice dancing at the center of the crowd, What the fuckAl?

Alice is here? Carmen followed Shanes stare. Hey, she is.

Carmen thought for a moment, She must be here with Jenny.

Oh Shane said, and looked around for Jenny, Well, I dont see her

Fine. Carmen let go of Shanes arm as she watched her disappear into the crowd, and then to go her separate way back to the DJ table.

Tab sat at the curb, smoking a cigarette as Shane walked up to her. Tab put her hand up without turning around to look at her, I know what youre going to say, Shane. You dont want to see me anymore. I know that. Its my last night here. Im just trying to have fun. Shane began a sentence but Tab cut her off, as she turned around to throw down the cigarette, Look, I let you talk last night, now its my turn. Just listen to what I have to say, okay?

Shane slipped her hands into her pockets and mumbled a soft, Okay.

[A few hours passed]

Carmen guzzled down a beer as she saw Shane walk back into the scene with her arm around Tab. A fume of jealousy enraged her whole body”well hey, she just had that arm around her shoulder, and then it slipped off at the sight of the mysterious Tab. Alice walked over and elbowed Carmen, Arent they always a sight to see together? Theyre like equivalents. Carmen flashed an evil glare. Alice fixed her statement, But you and Shaneare likeopposites! And everybody knows opposites attract. Right? Right. Yeah okay, Im shutting up now.

Yeah Carmen sighed and hung her headphones at her neck as she watched the two converse with each other. I dont get it. Theyre not doing anything bad, but Im sofuckingjealous.

Alice nodded and saw Jenny, wanting to come over to talk to Carmen, Its lust. Youll get over it. But hey, it was a great party, she said, touching Carmens arm before walking off.

Jenny walked up to Carmen slowly and waved her hand, Hey there

I must sayYou look really wasted. Carmen smiled and looked down at her feet. HeyIm glad you showed up And brought company with you. I saw you kissing Tab.

She held her head, beet red, Yeah, definitely wasted when I did that

Carmen looked over to see the equivalent pair, envy still at the pit of her stomach, I guess Ill have to get use to having two of those walking around.

Jenny shrugged, Theyre just friends now. Theyre harmless together when friends. Well, from what Ive heard.

Shane watched her run off with Jenny and Alice. She turned to walk towards Carmen. She smiled, seeing that Carmen seemed to be fine again, no sign of jealousy through her expression. Then once a few bodies moved out of the way, she saw some woman kiss her, and Shanes jaw dropped. She looked to the ground, not believing her eyes, but only to get hit twice of the sight when she looked again.

Shane grabbed the box of records and walked it back to the car, with Carmen trailing behind her. Carmen opened her mouth, trying to make a sound, but she didnt know what to say to break the silence. Shane put the records in the back seat and closed the door. Shane opened her passenger door, sat down, buckled her seatbelt and looked out of the window, without making eye contact with Carmen. Carmen felt the awkward silence, but did not dare to acknowledge it”for she is still caught in the moment with the captivating woman, whom seductively whispered her name into her ear. She knew that Shane could have seen the moment she had with the woman, but she saw Shane having a great time with Tab”even though it was just an innocent conversation. She gripped the steering wheel tight as she drove the both of them home in silence.
