    Soul Singing – Part Two

“I just need to have a break from all the touring for a few weeks alright?” Alice said seriously down the phone as she moved around her kitchen fixing coffee. “It’s not like I wont be working or anything. You guys do the interviews and I’ll start writing some more stuff for the next album.”

“Lex is going to ring your neck over this,” Liam replied simply. “You know I don’t care whether you stay here or not, but you know him! He’s a bloody psycho when it comes to this stuff.”

“I know, I know.” Alice took a moment to drink some of her coffee, contemplating what she should do. “Liam I just need to stay here for a little while ok? I-I’m not sure how long I could stand Lex’s obsession with money and interviews any longer. I need this break.”

Liam understood where Alice was coming from. For the past few years things had gone hay wire in their group as Brad and Lex jumped aboard the fame wagon. They no longer wanted to play music for the sake of it. They wanted to play to make money, or to become famous. An ideology which neither Liam or Alice shared. Call it artistic differences if you will but this clash in ideas was seemingly close to breaking the band up.

“I’ll try to put it to him softly alright? He’s coming over here for a little while later so let’s see if I can drum some sense into the boy.”

Alice smiled, “Thanks Liam. I-I can’t tell you how grateful I am, really.”

“You’re such a ***** hag,” Liam joked over the phone, knowing fully well how much this meant to Alice. “You just make sure that you keep your eyes open for any nice looking boys on the ***** streets of LA for me while I’m away.”

“I do that for you anyway Liam,” Alice retorted. Looking up at the clock, Alice suddenly realised the time. “***** I have tennis soon.”

Her words were met with silence on the other end.

“You’re going to watch the tennis? Al you hate that game.”

“I’m not watching it. I’m playing it.” Alice sighed and got ready for the onslaught. An enormous burst of laughter filled the phone line and Alice put the phone down in annoyance and cleaned the kitchen, picking it up two minutes later to be greeted with Liam’s laughter once more.
