    Chapter 93

“Thank you for a wonderful evening Bette and Tina “

“Thank you Elizabeth – it was lovely to meet you Hannah”

The four women were standing outside waiting for the car’s and saying their farewells. Despite Bette’s mess up it had been a successful evening with all four women gradually getting to know one another and dropping their anxieties. Elizabeth’s car arrived first and the two older women got inside and drove off. Tina had calmed down since Bette’s comment but she was still hurt.

“That went well didn’t it ?” Bette said smiling at Tina

    “You think ?”

“Yeah – Hannah was nice – really interesting. Its good to be able to talk to lesbians who have such different experiences of coming out”

Bette’s car appeared and she tipped the valet and looked to open the passenger door for Tina but the blonde had already got into the car. Bette got in and took her time putting her bag down, securing her seat belt and getting the car keys out. Tina looked out of the window thinking about what she was going to say to Bette when they got home. Bette started the car and five minutes passed with silence between them

    “I’m sorry “ Bette said

“I know you are “ Tina replied

    “It just slipped out “

“It didn’t just slip out Bette – you were trying so hard to make a good impression on your mother and her partner that you totally disregarded my feelings “ Tina replied harshly

Bette was about to object at the unfair accusation but she stopped – Tina had hit the nail on the head. She had been so obsessed with her mother that she hadn’t thought how Tina would feel about Bette’s explanation of her family situation. Bette didn’t speak for several minutes – she was trying to think how to get her out of the mess she had dropped herself in.

“You know that I am pretty thick skinned about 99% of things – but like everyone else I have an Achilles heel and that is it. It took you less than 45 minutes of our first meeting with your mother and her wife for you to tell them the thing that I find the hardest to deal with – thanks a bunch for being so considerate “

    1. Ally, I have been waiting to see how long Tina’s dad was going to put up with the open marrige. I do hope he is OK. Glad Bette took charge. Thank you Ally PPS Hope you have some fun on your week off.

    2. That was really generous of Tina to let Bette out of the doghouse for simply speaking a truth that Tina has failed to do the work required to not freak out about the mere mention. Considering that Tina is still stuck, I wonder what good she’s going to do back home. Hopefully she won’t make the situation worse. And poor Bette being ‘plagued’ by Elizabeth who had the GALL, the NERVE to go see her run the race. Terrible woman. And then she DARED apologize! What is WRONG with that woman?

    3. Well, maybe this is just the situation that will “unstick” Tina and her aversion to her parent’s relationship. It was certainly timely as it took the heat off Bette and how she blurted it out at dinner. I guess it’s true that it is an ill wind that blows no one some good! Keep writing them Ally…they are awesome.

    4. Great chapter. Always wondered when all that “openess” was going to backfire. So now Ms. “Open Busypants” knows how it feels to be betrayed. Payback is hell, isn’t it? Can hardly wait AllyE. Thanks for posting and have a great week off. Just indulge yourself.

    5. Hello Ally, What a wonderful, bright and sunny day it has turned out to be. You have posted more of your fabulous fan fictions and I am in hog heaven. The effects of Bette’s stupid comment were slowly forgiven. Good to have the gals talk through this hiccup. These things with happen and both know it was wrong and particularly insensitive on Bette’s part.I never sleep on an arguement. You need to thrash it through before sleeping. Then the revelation from Tina’s parents. Good to see Bette take charge, comfort Tina and sort out Finn and Willow as well.Ally, you constantly challenge and amaze me with your wit and writing. Thank you so very much.Your Loyal Fan.
