Chapter 59
“So what time did the two of you get home last night?” Emma asked smiling at her daughter. She had never seen her daughter looking quite as hung over in a long time. Tina was slumped on the sofa at Emma’s apartment and Emma was giving her lots of orange juice and black coffee.
“WE didn’t – I don’t know what time it was but it was after 3am”
“Oh dear – a 12 hour plus drinking session – though I suppose if you can do that sort of thing and survive it has to be when you are 23”
“There is no way it would have lasted that long if Shane hadn’t been there”
“Yes – Shane was very dear to you both “
“We loved her to bits “
“Has she changed?”
Tina eased up off the sofa to take the pint of orange squash that her mother had put there for her. She took a long drink and sighed.
“What did you think of Shane back at school?”
Emma lent back in her chair and smiled “Oh – Shane – a total baby dyke heart breaker”
“Bette once said that you could tell the dykes when Shane walked into a room because they ran out sobbing .She was devastated when Carmen’s parents took her away from the school. It totally changed her – but we managed to help her graduate. That was Bette – that was totally Bette who just wouldn’t give up on her – it said so much about what a good person she is”
“Emma nodded – it meant a lot to her that Tina had come to see her with her massive hangover. She had gone into mother mode for Tina and was happy to spend the whole day taking care of her child.
“And now?”
“Handsome and a heartbreaker “Tina smiled “Like what Bette said about Shane being some sort of litmus paper for outing dykes – it was a gay bar we were in and she was getting drinks bought for her – which she was passing to us, she was getting women giving her their phone numbers” Tina clutched her pint of orange juice “It was something to see”

LOL! I love how everyone continues to selectively revise their history, Emma being the worst.
Oh well, Tina needn’t worry too much about Hayley, she has to know that Bette’s utterly besotted with her. Bette seems to have taken Tina’s actual past lovers from her soccer team in stride, perhaps Tina can take notes and do the same. Or not… Drama ahead?

Thanks! Nice update. Tina got to bring her A game to put Miss Hayley in her place. Emma is wise I think she knows about that girl in Bette’s past. PPS
What a treat this morning! Thanks for the added post. I love that Tina and Emma are close. Tina seemed to handle Hayley pretty well at the bar. Looks like Tina and Bette have a discussion in the near future, if Bette survives training. :-). Happy Easter!

I loved that Shane got into the story again!
Tina managed in the bar for Hayley pretty well. Emma was the point: if Tina would go bombastic would only worsened the situation. but they have to talk about it. Bette does not care about Hayley. I liked Emma’s behavior, it was great to get advice on Tina how to handle the situation.
Tina take heed to Emma’s advice. And I think that Bette probably did have sex with Hayley, based on her own comment about Tina’s former lover.
