Shane didn’t come home ‘till 4:30 in the morning, she just sat in the porch and lighted up a smoke. Just then Alice walked out and sat next to her.

            – You really need to stop doing that Shane.-

            – Oh Fuck off Alice!!!-

            – No Shane! Carmen’s been worried sick about you; do you have any idea how bad that is for the baby? You can’t just jump from being the great wife you’re trying to convince everyone you are, from the reckless Casanova that you tried so hard not to be again. What did she told you? What happened?-

            – Steve is dead… He’s dead Alice; do you know what that means? Cherie… She’s…-

            – Oh Shane! Please don’t make a mistake, please think everything trough before you do anything. Carmen loves you and she’s pregnant with your baby.-

            – Who the fuck do you think I am Alice? I’m not gonna just leave Carmen, I love her. But Steve’s dead changes everything. – Alice just got quiet and after a few minutes she left Shane alone. It was true this changed it all. Should she go visit Cherie now? They had to talk. And Shane was scared, very very scared. Scared of what she might do.

            The next couple of days Shane was very distant, she was there with Carmen physically but she wasn’t really there, and knowing what was really in her mind was breaking Carmen’s heart, because she knew… It was Cherie, the woman that broke Shane’s heart, and her very own weakness. Carmen was terrified that Shane would leave her and run away with Cherie, now that it was ok.  But even this was killing her she had to talk to Shane; she had to tell her what she thought she should do. So the third day of Shane’s absence, when she was sitting outside by the pool, Carmen went and sat next to her.

            – I need to talk to you. – Carmen said staring at the water. Shane didn’t answer.   – I know what’s been going through your mind, and what’s keeping you from being you.-

            – How do you know which one is the real me?  I can’t even tell… So stop pretending that you know me Carmen, you don’t know shit about me! –

            – Oh, and this is the real you? Smoking your guts out? Or being mean to the kids? Or even ignoring all of your friends not to mention me. Well then if this is the real you I’m not sure I want you around anymore. I love you Shane, but I need you to know what is it that you want. So as much as I’m kicking myself for doing this, I’m asking you to go talk to Cherie Jaffe… You need to see her now, and without Steve threatening your life, and see how you feel about her. And if you find that all this time you were just waiting for something like this to happen then I’ll leave, and you won’t see me again. – Carmen never took her eyes away from the water neither did Shane, but for some reason she couldn’t just tell Carmen that she loved her too and that she didn’t need to talk to Cherie. She couldn’t ‘cause she knew it would be a lie, she did needed to talk to Cherie, she was dying to talk to her.
