    Seemingly Lost Chptr. 19

Bette was standing in the line to turn in her rental car and having a text battle/argument with her agent. She had just turned in her keys and signed her name to the bill and was now looking for a food court to at least consume some of the food before the flight. She felt a soft tap on her shoulder and hoped to god that it wasn’t Tina trying to make a bigger scene in a much more public place. She turned around and saw those crystal blue eyes again, smiling at her with such anticipation. She was half heartedly relieved and disappointed that it wasn’t Tina coming to stop her again, this time with her heart in the right place. She couldn’t help the smile that formed in return and leaned in to embrace the young woman with waiting arms.

“What are you doing here?” she asked as she backed out of the hug.

“Well me and some of my friends are taking a last time trip before we all settle back at different colleges and become nothing but memories and lost phone tag buddies.” Bette nodded her head understanding completely. “So where’s Tina?”

A small smile graced Bette’s lips and she dropped her head down, leaving no room for misunderstanding of the current situation. “Aww, Sweetie, what happened?” As soon as her brain was coming up with a quick way to try and avoid the situation she looked up at the flight status board and read that her flight was now delayed.

“You want to split some of the yams?” Bette asked holding up the bag of Tupperware containing the food that she was sure was going to be too much for her. Raine looked at Bette and smiled, she really did miss some of her aunt’s cooking and she had a whole lot of time to kill before her flight. Bette started the story slow as they sat at a small table in a food court, they sat at the table with one dish and two forks. Raine listened and took every bit in as she watched emotions flutter and drown in Bette’s story. She really did feel bad for Bette, her cousin was sure enough putting her through an emotional rollercoaster.
