Chapter fifteen

As the first rays of light came through the window, Tina woke up from her dream. In her dream Bette had woken up. Hope filled her heart, but when she looked at Bette and saw she was still in a coma, the hope was replaced by a hollow feeling. Tina felt so lost without Bette, she needed Bette back and was beginning to lose hope. The doctor had told her it wouldn’t take long for Bette to wake up, but Bette was already in the coma for over a week and Tina was beginning to worry. What if she never woke up again? Tina quickly diminished that thought out of her head and replaced it whit happy thoughts of her and Bette. Bette would make it and they would start their family. Nobody else knew about their plans and with Bette being in a coma, Tina had nobody to talk to about the subject. She decided to talk to Bette about it anyway, if she could hear her or not. It didn’t matter. She had to get things of her chest and now was a good time.
Tina: “Good morning babe. I dreamed about you last night. I dreamed that you woke up and that we were starting our family. Oh, I so want to have a baby with you Bette. If only you could wake up… I love you so much Bette, please wake up.”
Tears were forming in Tina’s eyes while she spoke to Bette.
Tina: “Why won’t you wake up Bette? I miss you. I need you. I love you. Please wake up baby. Please, for me baby.”
A tear coursed down Tina’s face and fell onto Bette’s hand. As Tina continued pleading Bette and holding her hand, Bette felt her body and mind come back to reality. She softly opened her eyes and looked at the beautiful woman sitting in front of her. Her head was bowed down as tears streamed over her face. Bette had trouble forming a clear view and as her mind processed what she was seeing, she tried to speak. A soft whisper formed on Bette’s lips.
Bette: “T?”
Tina looked up and locked eyes with Bette. Joy filled her heart and she smiled the largest smile she had ever smiled. Her eyes smiled with her as she looked at Bette.
Bette: “T, why are you crying baby.”
Tina: “I just love you so much baby.”
Bette slowly lifted her hand and wiped the tears from Tina’s face. She tried to sit up in her bed and as she started to move, Tina immediately helped her.
Tina: “Here, let me help you babe.”
Bette cradled Tina’s face in her hands and softly kissed her on the lips.
Bette: “I love you T.”
Tina: “I love you too Bette. With all my heart.”
Bette: “Could you tell me how I got here?”
Tina: “You don’t remember?”
Bette: “The last thing I remember is running towards the hunters. The ice broke under my feet and I remember falling in the water, but from then everything went black. I heard you crying and talking to me and as a tear fell on my hand I opened my eyes and saw you here. Have you always been here T?”
Tina: “I couldn’t leave your side Bette. I wanted to be here when you woke up. I didn’t want you to be alone and scared.”
Bette: “Thanks T. That really means a lot to me.”
Tina: “Everyone has been here from time to time. Alice, Dana and Shane came at least once a day to cheer me up a little. I was quite broken when I heard what had happened. I thought I was going to lose you. But you’re here now, that’s all that matters. Jessica and Roxanne visited you too. Do you know that Roxanne jumped in after you to save you?”
Bette: “Really? She did that? She really did change after all.”
Tina: “Your parents flew to LA to visit you. They’re staying at our house for a while.”
Bette: “They flew all the way to LA to see me?”
Tina: “Yeah babe, you’re really loved you know.”
Bette smiled at her loving wife. She was having trouble moving with all these wires still attached but was able to grab Tina’s hand and kiss it.
Bette: “T?”
Tina: “Yeah Bette?”
Bette: “If you’re ready I would like to continue were we left off. I don’t plan on going on another expedition anytime soon. When I fell through that ice, all I could think off was you T. You mean everything to me and I would like for us to share our love with a new life.”
Tina: “There’s nothing I’d rather do babe.”
