Chapter 11
Angelica was sitting in Jamie’s office waiting for the driver. Jamie was busy stuffing files and any other important papers into her shoulder bag to take with her. She looked up at the clock from time to time amazed at how fast it was flying by. She was trying her best to beat this coming storm and be out of here before it makes its appearance. Looking over to Angelica she observed the picture of dejection. Only little girls could look so defeated and lost when they don’t get their way.
Angelica sat idly kicking the first of her two suitcases which were positioned in front of her. She was unhappy about having to leave camp just when it sounded like things were going to get fun. There was an electrical current running through the air. It was scary and thrilling at the same time and she was going to miss it all. All the other campers had boarded buses a couple of hours ago. Everyone was gone except her and the camp director, Jamie. The two of them were waiting together for her driver to arrive.
Just when Jamie was beginning to get anxious about the time a tall guy came through the door. He was in his mid to late twenties, dressed in nice black slacks and white button down shirt that was open at the collar.
“I’m looking for an Angelica Kennard.” He said looking right at Angelica.
“Well you’ve found her. I was just beginning to get worried about the time.” Jamie says coming from around her desk. “Do you think you have time to head east and make it to the air field before the storm hits?”
Taking his eyes away from Angelica the driver looks to Jamie, “Yeah …. We’re going to have to hurry but yeah we should be fine.” The drive says to Jamie and then adds, “We’re going to have to be quick.”
The young driver bends over to begin picking up Angelica’s suitcases. “These yours?” He says to Angelica.
Angelica popped up out of her seat at his arrival just nods her head in answer to his question, bouncing over to pick up her backpack to go.

pls, pls don’t leave us waiting too long…Way to go tina!!!!
Great to see a post from you, but this seems beyound repair, how can T ever make this right?? No words can make Bette believe she is really forgiven by T……or what???? Post soon.
Bless you for the post! Damn, Tina, why don’t you just put a gun to Bette’s head? You would do less damage. I hate her (Tina) being so selfish.
leaving us hanging again. great chapter…really felt bette’s pain at tina’s words. why didn’t angie or dan try to call home? pps
bluecow, actually Bette did discuss this with Tina, that’s why Tina expected to see Angelica; well as least Tina is pained by the hurt she’s done to Bette. Poor Bette just can’t catch a break. I’m greedy more now, please (polite, but greedy :-)
Wow! Bette should have discussed it all with Tina before doing her usual and thinking she was handling everything. Tina, should have thought two seconds more before opening her mouth. Words are the one thing that once spoken cannot be taken back or forgotten. Tina has one opportunity to fix this, and it has to happen now.
Run for cover Porter, this way – I’ll look after you!
J…..magnificent! Words can cut deeper than a knife. Hoe can Tina ever make Bette feel worthy and trusting again? Sorry just doesn’t cut it. PPS if you can.
Feel free to turn off the BIATCH button anytime!
oh my god woman, you just bring it each and every time. cant wait to see how tina gets herself out of this one. i mean i understand the whole freaking out when its your kids, BUT holy hell. btw – that job problem i told you about. well it got much worse. i actually went and looked for another job within the hospital. just got a new one. im a case manager. start after thanksgiving. how cool is that??? im really excited. thanks.
Oh my…really good chapter. I keep worrying about Angelica and hoping this Dan guy isn’t creepy. And back in LA… Bette and Tina have lots of work ahead of them. Obviously, the old hurts were just hiding below the surface. Thanks for writing another chapter for us and I hope life gets saner for you soon.
Jwet so glad you could get back to writing. and this chapter was scary for a number of reasons and of course you left us on the edge again – your speciality. You are right about the speed up of life and I have no idea how to slow it down – I believe we have computers to thank but we have a lot of positives to thank them for as well so keep on keeping on as they say. Hoping you can go at your own pace most of the time.
Hey, J, I wondered where you’d gone, glad to see you back. Gee Whiz, that Tina sure likes to gloss over her real feelings only to have shit fly apart when the going gets tough. This doesn’t bode well for the future. It’s not impossible, but when people have reached adult status without actually growing up there’s little reason to expect they ever will. Will Anglelica and Bette be enough of an incentive? Or will regret be just another passing phase?
I know Tina is angry and scared but she really needs to watch what comes out of her mouth. Bette really should have spoken to Tina about her plans but you can’t turn back the hands of time. It is what it is and they just have figure out a way to deal with it. Hoepfully Dan or Angie will be able to call home to let them what’s up. BTW-I see Massmom and Seahurst have posted perhaps we can possibly get updates to their story?
what a cliffhanger? and tina knows how to cut deep? “i’m sorry” just doesn’t fix everything and i’m sure tina will have plenty to say.
hey i’ve been out of pocket since last month too—yours is the 1 st story i catch up with –wow what havoc you can create in a few short chapters. very impressive, i had hoped our girls had learned somethings over time- like how to work together –let angie call home soon with a great story for the family. oh yeah your camp director and i have something in common can you guess what you did????
Damn…that was too short! I sure hope you post again soon. I can never get enough of your stories.
Damn this is bad, hope Angel will be ok and this Dan guy will take care of her. Damn Tina, she is hurting Bette so bad, poor my Bette. Ok post soon please, thanks!
Stormy weather on many fronts or karma taking a big bite. Pain, distrust and anger take a long time to heal and pressure brings them to the surface. I hope Angelica doesn’t have to pay the price. A great chapter. Please post soon and take care of yourself.
I echo Seahurst’s comment, but I was hoping that Jamie went against Bette’s instructions and carried Angie with her and the other kids sighting that the conditions had deterated too badly before the driver arrived. I worry about the security of that ten can hanger. Tina MUST stap out of it and go to Bette. PPS
I agree with Curiout…I think Angelic will be safe but as far as B&T I dont know. PPS!
Oh no *sigh* poor bette, i know what she did was wrong without discussing this with tina but please stop punishing her she’s trying to do what best for Angel. I hope tina understand how much she loves angel.
You are the master!! Thanks!!
Angelica can rides out the storm in the hanger with Dan..but Bette & Tina are now exposed to face the aftershock of the whirlwind.
Feel sorry for Bette. Tina should try to make things right between them before it’s too late
Ah man, betrayal really does screw everything doesn’t it? And then Tina’s instinctive retaliation is salt into an old wound that just won’t heal. Looks like you have them in nice and deep here, can’t wait to see how you get them out! I’m in Aussie these days. I’ve had 8 months worth of immigration issues that have prevented me from moving back to the US. So my girlfriend is moving from the US to Australia in the new year. Hope your world slows to a more pleasant pace and you find the time to relax and write. As always, thanks for keeping us entertained.
I know what you mean about the world just spinning faster and faster. I just got used to writing the year 2006 and it is almost over! I turned around one day and my infant turned 10 years old. A few days later she turned 12! No clue how that happens! Glad you are writing. I’ve been worried about Angelica getting out of Alice’s way. (But, I’m relatively convinced that although Alice can blow a lot of wind, she is not terribly dangerous!) Now Hurricane Tina may be another story altogether. I do know that anguish about your child can make you lash out in the most hurtful of ways.
There is that excitement and fear of the storm but the aftermath of the storm is what is compelling. At least Tina knows that she has hurt Bette and hopefully is willing to go to her and comfort her. At this moment they need each other to get through this crisis.
wonderful writing.
Hey J-Gal, Great to have your voice and words back on this site. Honestly I would wait for an enternity to read your slendid story-telling. New job is starting to ramp up and beginning to get my feet wet. Soaked in fact and can completelly comiserate that this life is speeding up and time is of the essence. Remember to take care of yourself and your loved ones and take time out whenever you can. I know you are a crazy chick so you just confirmed the truth to your fellow passengers. Wicked! As for this latest chapter: first was relieved that Angelica was okay and comfortable abet with Dan the flying man in a air hanger. Then to have Tina’s emotional outburst have such a detrimental effect on Bette was intense and passionate. Where there is great love there can be great darkness and this was a brilliant example of how easily everything can change. You could be melodramatic and have a injury (not too severe) bring the gals back together ro perhaps Bette could rescue and return Angie home safely to Tina’s welcoming arms and heart. These gals do need time to process these events and I am sure the gals will do what they can to support them both. I adore the simple way in which you capture the picture of childhood in Angie. The gesture of kicking her case was superb and said so much. Many, many thanks for this fabulous fan fiction. The only down side is knowing that each addition ends just when you want to consume more. Your Loyal Fan.
whoa whoa serious jwet u bring it strong!! gotta have a lil faith in ur partner damn
Man this was deep…I hope Angelica is okay…this Dan guys seems nice and it seems like he is trying to keep Angelica busy so she won’t think about the storm. I am glad he wasn’t one of those pilots who thought they could take on mother nature….hope that hanger is sturdy…what probably won’t be sturdy is Bette & Tina’s reunion after Tina’s outburst. You bring so much emotion to your stories…keep posting.
