    Resolutions- Chapter 2

Lara finished her inspection of the cavernous kitchen.  Looking at Alexandra she proclaimed, “This is amazing.”

Alex breathed a sigh of relief.   She’d had the kitchen renovated first, in the hopes of tempting her friend.  “So, is that a yes?”

“Well, it’s not exactly what I expected to do next.  But I am intrigued at the concept.  So, let me look around the rest of the camp and sleep on it, okay?”

Alex took her friend by the hand and tugged her towards the door.  “Did I mention the ropes course?”

Lara laughed as she was pulled along.  “Alex, what on earth made you take a chance like this?  You majored in finance, for god’s sake!”

Alex grinned.  “I just got tired of doing the 9 to 5 thing.  I mean, the money was good, but it was way low on the satisfaction scale and too high on the maturity scale.  So, I thought about the things I hated about being grown-up, and the things I missed most about being a kid.  I talked up the concept with folks in the city, and it seemed to resonate, then before I knew it, I had some financial backing.  So, I started looking around for a place, and voila…here we are!”

Lara just shook her head.  As they wandered around the small campus she took note of the unruly landscaping and shabby cabins.  There was a daunting amount of work to be done.  But still.  The concept was fun.  Though just how successful could a summer camp for adults in the mountains of North Carolina be?  True, the area was rife with wilderness and rafting, mountain biking, hiking and rock climbing were all within easy commuting distance from the camp.    But who would come, and how sustainable could it be?

“You’re worrying aren’t you?”  Alex’s voice cut through Lara’s litany of silent questions.  “I keep telling you not to worry about how I can succeed.  All you need to worry about is what you’re going to feed the hordes.  I’m not planning on serving run of the mill camp food.  No watery scrambled eggs, PB&J or hot dogs for our campers.  I’m thinking frittatas, salads with gorgonzola and cranberries and Chilean Sea Bass with polenta.”

    1. Wow, what a creative premise! Yay that you updated, I can’t wait to read more (hopefully soon?). Summer camps for adults–I’m thinkng potential to sneak in long walks, long talks and perhaps even inappropriate behavior after dark in or around the canoe launch, LOL. Seriously, though, the clever setting holds much intrigue. As always w/your fics, I look forward to seeing where you take Lace and us as readers….keep up the good work!

    2. I agree with Mineralka – what a creative premise. And I especially like the idea of everyone in such a confined space… I can just imagine the chaos that’ll create. Well. Brilliant chapter. Can’t wait for the next. Please post soon.

    3. i like it!!! that´s for sure! all the girls in a summercamp. there are so many pictures in my head right now… this will be fun ;-) (in this moment i think at the scenes after dana´s funaral, so there could be some melancholisch-moments for me)and also a very romantic atmosphere for lara and alice.hope to read more soon :-)ps: the brunch was great!big hug, naren

    4. This is such a great premise, Gold! I love it already – I too can’t wait for Alice’s reaction when she sees Lara. And I agree with Min – I’m thinking there will be lots of opportunities for laughs as well as inappropriate behaviour at camp! Plus, I’m sure the gang will get up to plenty of shenanigans of their own… I’m looking forward to reading all about it! The idea of Shane at summer camp just makes me laugh. As for my story… I know, I totally suck! But, I’m hoping to get something posted in the next couple of days – as usual, you’ve inspired me to write! :)

    5. This chapter just sparkled, Gold. The dialogue, the setup for the gang at camp, Lara climbing a tree(!), all of it. I’m really looking forward to see how this plays out. Thanks for the excellent post.
