Prologue: Moving On
Dylan didn’t make it easy on her. The videotape was not the last that Helena heard from her. Dylan would send her the most cathartic emails that would have Helena reeling, but she would never call. Helena found herself obsessed with her email checking it constantly to see if she had any mail from Dylan. She would refresh her mailbox every 5 minutes at work and found herself stealing glances at her blackberry during meetings and evenings out to see if Dylan had written her. Of course, the emails were few and far between and just as Helena would lose hope…another email would arrive in her inbox. Dylan needed to bear her soul and apparently saw Helena as the only person that she could do this with. However, not enough to pick up the phone and call Helena or ask her how she was doing.
Understandably so, Dylan was going through the madness of coming out of the closet as a grown mature woman, having established what she thought her life would be like and now dealing with a complete upheaval of her very being. She needed to process her thoughts and emotions and did so through her emails. If any neutral party were to be privy to these email conversations, it would almost immediately become apparent that the dialogue was rather unidirectional. Dylan did not address anything that Helena mentioned in her emails, whereas Helena would exhaust herself trying to provide Dylan with compassion, advice and guidance. The communication was maladaptive at best.
Helena had not shared the new onset of emails with anyone. Although once Helena’s primary confidante, Helena could not bear the thought of approaching her mother. First of all, she was all of a sudden enamored by this new woman in her life and seemingly didn’t notice the pain that Helena was going through. Helena also still felt stung from being cut off. Cerebrally, she understood what her mother had wanted to do and was actually seeing changes within her that her mother had predicted, but there was still a part of her that felt like a child and just wanted to pout. But more fundamentally, Helena was absolutely mortified that as a grown woman, she was completely humiliated by Dylan in front of her mother. Helena spent her life trying to be the daughter she knew her mother wanted, and then to be caught in such a terrible situation and have it all unravel before her mother was just an all time low.

This is really good and you should definitly continue….Thanks
From someone who says they are not a writer…this chapter was wonderfully written. Thank you. You have set us up for what should be a dynamic party!
Ah, simple81, we have a winner here in your story. Intelligent writing and insightful comments, lots of detail. I like the way you describe the difference between Lara and Alice’s way of coping with Dana’s death. I thought that was very observant and your writing is articulate. I am looking forward to reading further. It is encouraging to read a thoughtful, well-planned story that allows the reader a glimpse into the characters’ thoughts.
I love it, so glad you decided to come out of the woodwork, so to speak. It’s clear that you’re a talented writer, and I love the setup to this story. There seems to be a lot of introspection and development of the characters, something that I’m sure Season 4 will be lacking. I look forward to more.
So well written and convincing. A pleasure to read. Puh lease continue.
This is a great beginning. You have given all of the background and it was not rushed. I can’t wait until you post again. I see great things for this party!
this sounds like a real interesting start… i wish i could be on that party too… thank you and please post soon.
ok its intriguing, but I need more to understand it
