    Prodigal Chapter 7

How have you been? Tina asked, playing poker for as long as she could.

Ive been well.  Helena was never one to resist bragging about herself.  You will never believe who I had lunch with yesterday.

I cant imagine, Tina played along.  Madonna?

No, dont be silly.  No, I met with this new up and coming author.  I recently bought a film production company and I want to buy the rights to her book.  Maybe youve heard of her, Helena paused for effect, Caroline Kennard?

You had lunch with my sister yesterday, Tina deadpanned.  Her face showed absolutely no emotion.  Thank God Caroline had told her about this last night.

Yes, isnt that wonderful?  Tina, from talking to her, I think she would want to see you, Helena offered, clearly thrilled with herself.

Why are you seeking out my sister?  Why are you having lunch with her?  Helena, what is it you want from me? Tina asked, still not admitting she knew everything.

Its purely a business deal, Tina, Helena explained in that infuriatingly disingenuous way she had.  I read her book and I loved it.  I thought maybe bringing the two of you back together would be a bonus.

You know, Helena.  I find that very hard to believe.  She told me about your conversation with her over lunch

                Wait, she has seen you?

Yes, Helena, but that is very much beside the point at the moment, Tina said, extremely irritated now.  What are you doing airing my business to my sister?  My sister, who I told you that I hadnt seen in eight years?  What gives you the right to talk about me to her, to tell her what you think that I need?

Tina, you are completely overreacting, Helena said in her too-calm overly controlled way.  I was trying to do something nice for you.  I just  We left things so horribly, and I just thought, I dont know.  Only Helena could try to apologize and still make you angrier.  Tinas mother would have said that Helena could piss off the pope.

Tina shook her head and shrugged.  Helena, going behind my back and contacting my sister was wrong of you.  Discussing your relationship with me and my relationship with Bette was unforgivable.

    1. no don’t give in to the bitch… if the book is really that good tina can get any production company to but the rights… i wouldn’t give that bitch anything… loving this story… please continue

    2. They have something that Helena wants. Make her squirm. Leave her to twist in the wind. Ignoring her is the best policy.
