Please, I Need You
Bette and Tina walked through the door completely an utterly exhausted from the emotional funeral of their close friend Dana Fairbanks, the ceremony had gone for only half an hour but the past few days had been long and tiring. Tina placed her bag and coat down on the table in the kitchen whilst waiting for the kettle to boil. “Baby do you want a cup of tea or coffee?” Bette walked straight past Tina and into their bedroom without saying a word or lifting her head to look at her partner. “Baby?” Tina looked on with worried eyes.
Tina continued working in the kitchen allowing Bette her space. Today was hard on both of them but especially hard on Bette. She hadn’t really spoken about it to Tina that much, though Tina expected just as much, Bette wasn’t one to talk about her feelings let alone cry about them. Tina had seen Dana the day of her death where as Bette never got a chance to say goodbye. She was away on business at the time and come home as soon as possible to be with her friends. “Babe, here’s your tea” Tina pushed the door open holding both cups in her hands. Her heart sank seeing Bette staring into space as she sat on the edge of the bed. She looked so vulnerable and pale.
“Bette…” Tina placed both cups on the side table and stood in front of Bette cupping her face in her hands. “Tee…” Bette looked up tears building in her eyes “I…” She couldn’t find the words to describe the feeling of emptiness inside her. Tina ran her hands through the brunette’s hair “Shhhh” She traced one finger over Bette’s lips, she knew exactly how she was feeling because even though Tina wasn’t showing it as much as Bette, she still felt the pain of losing Dana too.
“Tina…I never want to lose you again.”
“I didn’t go anywhere before and you’ll never lose me, I promise” Tina slipped off Bette’s jacket and searched the closet for Bette’s pyjamas. “Let’s put you to bed” She placed her clothes next to her only to find that the tears threatening to drop had just fallen down her cheek. Tina curled a piece of loose hair behind Bette’s ear. Bette leaned into Tina’s hand. She stroked Tina’s arm pulling her down to meet her lips. The kiss was slow but comforting for Bette. Tina broke the kiss to look back into Bette’s eyes making sure her girlfriend of seven years was ok. “Tee, please” Bette met her lips again. “I need you” She knew this meant to stop asking questions and just kiss me.
