Pianist (7)
Marina looked at Bette and I then sat back. We have each been seeing her privately for therapy sessions, which happened more often with the stress of forming our band. Our debut show was scheduled to open in Kit’s club ‘Hit.’ There were going to be hundreds of people there and Marina wanted to make sure that Bette’s dreams didn’t resurface because of the stress and that I was ready for such a huge performance.
This was the first time Bette and I would have a session together and Marina wanted us to be comfortable so she started out casually, "so how’s Lez Girls doing?"
"Kit’s old manager will be there," Bette said, "the brains of our operation, Carmen, predicts we will be selling out albums and concert tickets in no time."
"Carmen doesn’t play anything right?" Marina asked, "I keep forgetting."
"No, Carmen got her degree in music technology so she’s like our dj of sorts," Bette said, "she does lights, effects, and intermission music."
"Right, Shane plays the drums, you’re on piano, Dana is on guitar, and Alice is on bass?"
"Yes," Bette said smiling, "Dana taught Alice to play."
"I think they’re having a thing now," I added.
"I am positive they are, they’re always all over each other," Marina said with a small grin, "now I have a theory."
"What kind of theory?" Bette said leaning forward.
"A theory that if it works, will finish our sessions together," Marina said.
I smiled at her and said, "what is it?"
"Well we’ve talked both of your problems to death, I’ve always thought actions spoke louder than words," Marina said, "so today in about two hours there will be a concert at the ‘Planet.’ We will all be there as well as the entire music department and Professor Jackson. You, Tina, will perform your composition."
"What!!" I cried.
Bette chuckled and said, "wow!"
"N-no way! I c-cant do that!" I said nervously.
"Well I’ve talked to Dr. Jackson and I will give him a copy of the sheet music," Marina said, "this performance will determine whether or not you graduate."
I gulped audibly and looked at Bette nervously. Bette rubbed my shoulder comfortingly and said, "it’s okay baby, you’re not alone. I’ll be right behind you playing the piano."
