Part 24: The Help (Alice & Dana)

She put down her purse and keys down on the table not noticing her house was completely clean. She opened the fridge door and got herself a glass of orange juice and sat down. She stopped and looked around the kitchen.

    Alice: What, the, *****?

She looked at sink and all the stack of dishes was all washed. She opened the fridge again and saw that it was fully stocked.

Alice: Dana. (closing the fridge door)

She hurried herself to her bedroom and stopped and stared. Dana was still there straightning the sheets making sure it’s perfect.

    Alice: Dana?

    Dana gasped and turned around.

    Dana: (nervously) Alice, hi.

    Alice: What are you doing?

Dana: I thought..I’d come down and talk to you but you weren’t here so I thought I’d…clean up?

Alice: Thanks. You didn’t really need to do this.

Dana: Yeah but I wanted to.

    Alice: Okay.

Dana knew that Alice didn’t really want to talk right now.

    Dana: Okay, I should go.

Dana walked to Alice and stopped, getting something out of her pocket.

Dana: Here’s the key, incase you don’t want me popping in and…yeah.

Alice remembered what the therapist said earlier.

Therapist: You just need to let little things go. If she didn’t love you then why did she come back?

    Dana: Alice?

Dana waiting for her to take the key. Alice just looked at the key and didn’t take it instead she held both of Dana’s hand and looked down.

Alice: Dane, I just gotta think through this one. Okay?

    Dana: I understand…

Alice: Keep the key. I already have one.

Alice looked up and smiled and Dana, Dana smiled back. They hugged.

    Dana: (whispering) I love you.

    Alice: I know.

Dana was expecting Alice to say it back but she understand how Alice feels right now. They broke off. They smiled at eachother again.

    Dana: Bye.

    Alice: Bye.

Dana turned around and left the room. Alice heard the door close and sighed. She walked over and turned on her radio. All she needed was music, it calmed her down and made her think clearly.
It was Mariah Carey “We Belong Together”

“…the pain reflected in this song
Ain’t even half of what I’m feeling inside
I need you, need you back in my life baby.
When you left I lost a par-”

Alice turned it off immediately, she couldn’t listen to that type of music right now. Not even music could make her feel alright. She misses Dana already. The therapist probably was right about her trusting issues. Out of all the people in the world why is she having a hard time trusting the woman that she loves? I mean Dana trusts her but why can’t she?
