Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 21
Chapter 21: Let’s get out of here (Alice is starving, Tina is driving, Bette is freaking out and it takes another nightmare to calm her down)
(Previously) They both stared at each other speechless and motionless for what seems like an eternity, even though for Alice only a couple of seconds passed. Finally Bette and Tina slowly released their hands, letting the tips of their fingers enjoy the touch a little longer.
Tina searched Bette’s eyes and saw desire, confusion and something else, barely discernible but Tina recognized it after a moment. It was a connection between them that she felt herself. She smiled affectionately at the brunette and asked softly, “Did you know when you took my hand that it would be happening to us?”

Place: Porter mansion
Year: 2005
“Um…I…I have no response to that…I am sorry…Ti…Tina,” Bette stuttered, being really sincere about the ‘sorry’ part because she was not ready to admit this undeniable connection with Tina…not until she could figure out what that connection and attraction meant.
‘Oh gracious God Almighty, help me. She is completely mesmerizing…she can reel me in with just her eyes…those beautiful hazel eyes,’ Bette was thinking while looking at Tina, her own eyes displaying regret and apology. She knew that she was lying because she had a perfect response to Tina’s question.
If she was brave and confident she would say that she didn’t know it would happen to them but she recognized the connection and the desire and it felt good…too good in fact. But Bette was insecure about everything in her life right now and the lack of confidence stopped her from expressing her true feelings.
Tina felt her heart drop to the ground and shatter into million pieces and she lowered her eyes to the floor, trying to keep the tears away. ‘What did I expect? That she would jump into my arms and we would start making love, madly and passionately? Calm down, Tina…of course she’s not ready to admit anything. She was transferred here from another century and she’s shocked and confused…all she needs now is some love-struck stranger expressing her feelings. At least she didn’t say that she didn’t feel anything.’

I was missing this story…thanks for posting. I’ve been following this story from the beginning. I love the history that is weaved into the story. I was born and raised in Orange County and enjoy the history of the area.

The car ride was probably more like a roller coaster to Bette. Tina and Alice will have a lot of work ahead of them to incorporate Bette into their lives.
Hahaha…I really love Bette’s reactions to all the things that she is experiencing for the first time. Tina will be there to help her throug everything and I’ll bet that Bette will find that the 3 months goes very quickly and maybe she’ll have a different dilemma on her hands. B&TF you are doing a marvelous job with this story…I absolutely love it!
Wow, I’m loving the story, and especially the fact that Tina will be taking care of her. That would be so cute for Tina to snuggle in with her when she has her scary dreams. Aww, this weak and vulnerable Bette is really cute. Great job!
To jump ahead in time by 120 years would be a terrifying journey. However, to do it with someone as loving and caring as Tina by my side would greatly ease those fears. Thanks S!! This is like re-reading a favorite book! :-)
