Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 19
Another part of the article also remained the same, the one that was describing Maxine Porter as an avid art lover and supporter, and how through the years she hired art teachers to tutor Elizabeth who developed an amazing talent.
And this is when the mysterious substitution of information started and Tina couldn’t believe her eyes. It was like whatever she had read before never even happened. Tina began reading aloud, hoping that it would help clear her mind and give her an understanding.
‘…and Christina Radcliff, Elizabeth’s last and most talented teacher, who also became her friend and companion. After Katherine Porter’s wedding, Christina and Elizabeth spent every afternoon together, preparing paintings for Maxine Porter’s annual art show that was planned for the last week in October. Elizabeth was working on several paintings at the same time but due to her disappearance none of them were finished.
And this is where the mystery begins. Elizabeth’s life was very habitual and for almost everyone around there, it was easy to learn about her everyday routines, including her afternoon tea and rest in the garden, regular horseback riding, painting lessons with Ms. Radcliff, evening promenades in the park, and visits to relatives.
And so it was, on the beautiful day of October 19 in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and eighty-five, Elizabeth Porter was taking her routine horseback ride along the path of the sequoia forest coming back from visiting her sister. Christina was shot straight through the heart by an unknown assailant hidden somewhere in the grove. Elizabeth Porter disappeared and the rumors began that she was kidnapped for ransom, since her family was very prominent and wealthy.
Elizabeth and Christina were supposedly accompanied by another young woman, whose name remained unknown and who was feared to be an accomplice to the ruthless murderer and kidnapper that was never found.’
“Wait, wait a minute,” Alice exclaimed, wiping away tears, “this writer, whoever he is, got it all wrong. What a bunch of crap. In the first version that you told me about my name wasn’t even mentioned but I was there, and it wasn’t Christina who was shot. Now, in this version it’s all different and there are still a lot of discrepancies from what really happened. We were not coming from Katie’s house and how dared he to mention me as an accomplice? I saved Bette’s life,” Alice was getting really mad now, the true journalist in her awaking and speaking with passion.

Bravo B&TF for creating one of the most interesting stories on this site at the moment! Your creativity is awesome and the twists and turns you are throwing at us are fabulous. Again, I can’t wait for the next update and hope we have another this weekend. Thanks!
That was great and funny!
Just as engaging as the first time you posted this story. Please continue writing.
I am so excited about them meeting and talking to each other, you did a wonderful job in writing this story B&T, I love the way you connect things together, and as I said million times before it’s hard to believe that this is your first story ever written, it’s so well written dear, you are professional. So thank you so much for reposting it again and I can’t wait for it to continue. Love
WOW… Lots of information here… So, Christina didn’t die huh? Gosh, so much potential for a great story, and with an uncertain ending (or not… Please keep them together. At least in this world, they can really be together freely). Can’t wait to see how this all plays out. LMAO at Bette’s constant fainting. And also at Alice’s silly ideas… This little bit of comedy is fitting really great in this otherwise really intense story. Let’s see what you have in store for us… Thanks and PPS!
This is such a unique story! Thanks, I hope you post soon!!
I know, I know that I keep saying the same thing over and over again, but it is still true no matter how many times I say it. (Hopefully a little differently each time. :) ) Think of it as a JB response to interview question about how she approached her first sex scene (“well, I was focused on Bette’s career and researched that…”) I continue to marvel at the intricacies of the story, its blend of mystery, humor and pathos. I know it is a fic, but you are able to make me hurt for poor Bette. I wonder if you are going to give us a happy ending and how you will do it. So, still eagerly reading. More, please.
