One step at a time…10
“I guess we went a little overboard, huh?” Tina asked, looking at the bags of groceries covering Bettes kitchen counters.
“Well, if 30 or 40 of your closest friends drop by for dinner, at least well be ready for them.”
“We were doing really well until we got to the gourmet cheeses. Then the floodgates opened.”
“That’s my fault. Cheese is my greatest weakness,” Bette admitted.
“I thought cleaning gadgets were your greatest weakness?”
“What can I tell you? Im highly flawed.”
Tina walked over to where Bette was unpacking bags. “No you arent,” Tina said, reaching around Bettes waist and looking up into her eyes.
“Yes I am,” Bette said, taking Tinas face in her hands.
“Is self-deprecation part of your elaborate wooing ritual?” Tina arched her eyebrows.
“No. Im only trying to manage your expectations.”
“Okay. Tell me all about your many flaws.”
“Do you want to eat this meal tonight? Because that could take a while,” Bette said.
“Im waiting.” Tina stepped back and crossed her arms expectantly.
“Lets see. I have no patience. At all. Not with myself or anyone else. I can be a workaholic. Ive been known to brood. And then, theres my temper.”
“Short fuse?”
“Catastrophically.”
“Youre a gas oven,” Tina said matter-of-factly.
“Excuse me?”
“Youre either an electric oven or a gas oven. Think of oven burners. Gas flames up immediately, but then turns off just as fast. Quick temper, quick resolution. Electric burners? Long, slow heat up and a long, slow cool down.”
“Youre electric, arent you?”
“Yep.”
“Does that mean youre silently seething at me right now but holding it all inside and getting ready to blow?”
“Ill try and give you some warning before I ever get to Def Con 4. Maybe we should work out a hand signal.”
“Can a gas oven and an electric oven be involved with each other? I mean, youre not going to dump me for a microwave or a hibachi or something, are you?”
“So is that it? Are those all of your flaws or are there more?” Tina said, ignoring Bettes prattle.
“Those are the big ones. Or at least those are the ones I get the mostfeedback about,” Bette smiled.
“And this whole time I thought you were perfect. What a disappointment,” Tina said, shaking her head.
“Do I get any points for candor?”
“Ill take that under consideration and let you know.”

2 in 1 day…And I thought I didn’t like quickies!
Apparently I like it any way you do it — quickie or a slow, stretched out encounter — ffc – spoil us…..
*sticks head in oven* I can’t take you anymore, FFC. :D Couldn’t you just like, mess up spelling a word? Just once? Put a period in the wrong place? Make Bette burp? Something? *lol* I swear, your entire chapter could consist of three sentences and it’d still be a masterpiece. Can’t thank you enough for sharing your talent with us. :) 5 pilot lights!!
Whoo-hoo!!! I’m so in love with this fic! Thanks so much and thanks for not resisting!
oh please don’t resist. irresistible as always. ;)
LOVED the temper analogy! Excellent as always.
So glad for the new story. All the chapters have been delicious so far. And thatnks for calling them “jimmies” and not sprinkles. :)
how about a quicky 3rd?
The others said it best. Thanks so much. I;m gas, LOML is half and half.
Give it up. You’re really a Pulitzer prize winner who just finished her latest book tour and is hanging up her feet to write this…aren’t you?? hehehe :P What a beautiful talent to share with us. Thanks for the 2 for 1 deal today!
so freakin’ cute!
I dig your writing as much as much as I look forward to reading cramit’s comments.
Thank you for 2 in 1. The story is unfolding so beautifully.
FFC.. look..I had promised myself not to comment on another board to tame somehow my TiBette obsession.. But, OMG, you really really are a genius. I have been reading your fiction since day 1 and getting amazed by your talents. I was about to explode. So, there. You are amazing and words will not do you justice!
All right, its official, you are cooking with gas! Amazing. Pefect. Breathtakingly simple and yet so nuanced. Cramit? Is there room in that oven cause I got to stop reading FFC’s stuff. Her perfection gives me performance anxiety. LOL Damn FFC, you rule and you have no idea how many people I’ve told to read your stuff. Let’s hope this story is like one of those electric burners, real slow to cool down. LOL.
I’m sorry, I thought I was done commenting but I wasn’t. Your stories make me sigh, in a “wow that was perfect kind of way.” I read A LOT and I can honestly say its rare to find a writer that speaks so clearly, so loudly with only a whisper. You are truly amazing. GO GET A PUBLISHER, NOW!
P.S. Cramit, email me. We need to start that Fanficchick Fanfiction Survivor’s Group right away. I’m dying here!
Great 2 chapters ffc.
Yeah, get yourself a publisher, or an agent that can pitch you as a writer for the show. You’re more than genius…
I’m a big fan also. Thanks for comming back with a new story so quickly.
Wonderful, insightful banter. Love the gas oven, electric oven bit. Humorous and light, this is something we all look forward to! Continue writing!
