Chapter 10


 

At the bar

Tina: (as I was shaking Bette’s hand my brain seemed not able to process any of this information and my body began to shake I was feeling dizzy and everything around me was spinning and fast. This was the start of a faint.) Oh my god! Please hold me.. (was all I manage to say to Bette before I actually fainted)

Bette: Oh shit! (taken back by Tina’s words and body collapsing on her)

All Bette could do was try to hold on tight to this strange woman who seemed to be more than scared of her.

When the girls saw this they started walking fast towards Bette

Alice: (trying to help Bette) What the hell have you done Porter?

Bette: (looking surprised and with a questioning face) What Alice? What have I done with what? (lying Tina gently on her chest while she was sitting down on the floor)

Alice: (before either Dana or Shane could speak) with Tina Hello!!… the woman you’re holding right now. Jesus Bette. what did you tell her that made her faint?!

Now was Bette’s face that was turning more and more pale by the nano-second

Bette: (looking at Alice without even blinking) who did you say this woman was?

Alice: (now realizing what she had just said) Shit!!!! Wait. Bette.. wh yes this is our friend.. Tina Kennard but we can explain everything just

Bette: (looking at Alice with the eyes of a tiger who’s just about to eat) I’ll deal with the three of you later but now I need to get her at least to her room so I’m only going to ask you once which room is she in?

Alice couldn’t even breath. She knew her friend could be the funniest and most charming person in the world sometimes but she also knew that Bette had the temper of a crazy lion with a very very bad headache..

Alice: suit 20. (not being able to say anything else at all as well as Dana and Shane)

Bette: (now looking at the three of them and carring Tina on her arms) I will take care of you girls later but now please. just give us some privacy.

All the girls could do was nod a yes with her heads. And Bette was gone. Taking Tina with her.

 

Tina’s room

Bette entered Tina’s suite and took her to bed. Making sure she was lying in the right position and poured her a glass of water and left it on the table next to the bed.

Ten minutes later Tina woke up. She didn’t understand how she ended up on her bed or what had happened all she could think about was Bette. She couldn’t believe that she actualy met Bette Porter and felt this strong conexion with her without even knowing that important piece of information that was her name. not to mention the fact that she had spent the previous five days thinking about this woman. And that’s when she lifted her eyes and met once again those deep and soulful eyes.

Bette: (looking more relaxed now that Tina had woke up) Hi!…. welcome back.

Tina: (smiling shyly) I’m sorry. Ahhh. I’m still a little dizzy. How Did you bring me here?

Bette: Yes

Tina: how did you know which suite was mine?

Bette: remember those friends I used to have? Shane, Alice and Dana? Well they told me

Tina: (looking confused) how why.

Bette: (interrupting Tina) I don’t know exactly how or why but they were at the bar while I was making a fool of myself and then they saw you fainting and well you should ask them later I know I will

Tina: (looking right into Bette’s eyes for any indication of what was going on) making a fool of yourself? Believe me I think I have the record on that one I didn’t know you were "the legend ".

Bette: Please don’t call me that. And I didn’t know you were Tina Alice’s or Shane’s Tina not just any Tina (now looking sadly at the floor)

Tina: (thinking about those words) Ohh. Wait It’s not like that at all I’m their friend their straight friend. (looking embarrased)

Bette: (lifting her eyes confused) so you mean you’re not then why are you here on the first place? Are you shure you’re not gay?

Tina: (laughing) Yes well I told you that

Bette: What?

Tina: (grinnig) that I wasn’t gay.

Bette: (remembering the conversation we were having before she fainted "how can I be so stupid" I thought) How can I be so stupid? (wow that one came out and fast shut the fuck up Porter) then why are you here?

Tina: well recently I broke up with my fianc and Alice thought it would be a good idea for me to go on a gay cruise. As strange as that sounds..and  I thought I could give it a try.

Bette: (now returning to the world of the dead again) well Alice didn’t mention that on her e-mail. I’m very sorry about everything. I guess I’ll see you then. Are you feeling ok?

Tina: (not understanding Bette’s strange and changing mood) well you don’t have to go if you don’t want to I mean.

Bette: no really. It’s ok, besides you need to rest and I to take care of something. I’m glad you’re feeling better. (she was saying all this as she was standing up from the chair that was situated four feet from the bed) ehhh. I’ll see you.

Tina: no wait. I don’t want you to go. Just. Fuck!!!

Bette: well I’m sorry I didn’t mean to upset you but first I thought you were one of my friends girlfriend and now you told me that you aren’t gay and I don’t want to push you You also told me you are feeling this conexion between the two of us but I guess I know how weird one can feel about this situation. I went through this many years ago. Well not that many..

Tina: (laughing) ok. I’m thankful that you’re so understanding but I can’t help the need to be around you….

Bette: the same thing happens to me too and it also scares me because I’ve never felt anything like this for anyone. I’ve never experienced the need to be with someone all the time. And yet I’m also frightened by it. So I rather go and let you decide what you want to do or not about this. And it will also give me time to think about this

Tina: ok (looking sad) just tell me one thing.

Bette: anything..

Tina: the number of your suite in case I regret letting you go. Which I know I will in less than five minutes.
