    Oasis Part 1

“Your home!”  The scream pierces the silence of the living room, waking me up from the doze I had fallen into when I landed on the lounge chair.  I was exhausted, and while I missed my friend dearly, that feeling far from made up for over the 70 hours it took me to travel home.

“No, I’m not.  I am still in the middle of the African desert.  This,”  I gesture at my body, arms sweeping and eyes adverted to my feet, “is just some sort of illusion.” I couldn’t resist the sarcasm, sometimes it was too easy to wind her up and the opportunity had to be taken whenever it arose.  I am sure it’s written in a gospel, if not it really should be.

“Pshaw,”  She cried jumping onto my lap and wrapping me in an embrace.  Pathetically tears pooled; sometimes I didn’t realise how much I missed a little human affection.  Spending months essentially or actually alone in some of the most remote parts of the world doesn’t inspire much of a social life.  “I didn’t expect you home for weeks Bette, when you had your check up.”

It was nice that there were people at home who remembered dates, important dates.  Having friends, no family that loved her unconditionally was one of the things that she was most thankful for.  “Somehow a message made it half way across the world alerting me to a miracle.”

“Have you become the next Ghandi with a direct link to God?”

Shaking my head I couldn’t help but stare at her.  We may have been friends for most of our lives, but that doesn’t mean that I understand her at the best of times.  My current exhaustion and her  ADHD induced exuberance did not constitute one of those times.  “Alice, I’m talking about you.”

Her eyes widened almost comically “Me?”  I couldn’t help but laugh, she reminds me of Roger Rabbit on crack some days; the exaggerated gesticulations at herself and the melodramatic way she enunciated just sold it.  “I’m not Ron L. Hubbard.”

Alice was one of the most exhausting people I have ever known.  “You are aware that not every religion, or cult, are related.”  The perplexed puckering of her brows told me the answer more then any words every could.

You’re right “Light” is very heavy but you are telling the story in such a creative way and with such powerful emotions that one can not help being fully immersed in the story yet see all the love that is very evident within the characters, and their flaws. 6. Well indeed this is something different and I am definitely interested to see what happens in here. Many questions popping up. There is a light and humorous touch while we are also seeing something hard and painful underneath. Catherine Bell is a Scientologist too?? She is hot all right! I can definitely understand why you want to take a break from the other one, it is soo heavy, but so finely crafted as well. Looking forward to more here!
