My L Word – Love is times like this [Ep 4]
Meanwhile, at the other end of the street where Bette and Tina lives, it could be seen easily how much time and effort the pair have devoted to their home. The garden was attended to, the art works nicely displayed, utensils kept in their proper places, and lastly, on the bed, laid two people, who have gone through the thick and thin of a near eight years relationship and if there’s any word to describe the relationship at that moment, it would be stronger. Certainly, after all the recent unhappy events they have gone through, their love was made stronger. The passion that had sparked off eight years before was there to stay, for good. Or so it seems. Bette held Tina tight and close. She couldn’t risk losing this woman anymore. Not anymore. Lust can jolly well ***** off because love has come to stay. It has definitely defeated lust good and proper this time round. As much as Candace and Helena seemed like a wrong move for the both of them, those stepping stones were no doubt, worth threading on.
Bette decided to get out of bed early and make breakfast for the both of them. It would be a nice little surprise for Tina, who have always been the one taking care of breakfast and dinner.
While Bette was preparing breakfast, she heard a loud scream from Tina. She dropped the bowl she was holding and rushed to Tina immediately.
“Bette.. Bette.. the baby.. I think it’s coming out.”
Bette looked at Tina for a split second, she did not know what to do.
“BETTE!!!!!!! Help!! UGHHH!” screamed Tina.
Bette rushed over to her cellphone and dialed for an ambulance. Not long after, it arrived and they were on their way to the hospital. She held onto Tina’s hands, and said repeatedly, “Everything is gonna be fine, honey. Hang in there… Hang in there..” Tina seemed to be in agony and it pains Bette to see her in that state.
Bette followed faithfully into the E.R. room as Tina was wheeled in briskly. Tina pushed hard while Bette held onto her hands tightly and soothed her. Harder and harder, Tina pushed. Finally, they could hear a loud cry. The baby is born. The joy, on their face was indescribable. Even pure bliss and happiness is not enough. They couldn’t take their eyes off their baby girl.
After settling down at the hospital ward, Bette sat on the bed, next to Tina while Tina breast fed their baby girl. The portrait was perfect. Of course, they hadn’t forgotten the rest of their family. Bette rang Kit, Alice, Dana and Shane and spilled the good news. They were just as excited.
“Bette, let’s name her Angelica. Just like an angel.” whispered Tina.
Bette nodded her head in agreement.
“Hello..” whispered Kit, her head sticking into the ward.
Bette and Tina smiled at her.
“Come in” Bette said.
Kit, Alice, Dana, Shane, Carmen, Jenny and Marina went in tentatively, afraid of disturbing baby
Angelica. Jenny gasped at the sight of her.
“She’s so beautiful.” whispered Jenny.
They took turns to hold onto baby Angelica. And finally, Angelica was back in Tina’s arms.
A bigger portrait with all of Angelica’s family members bending down, watching her like the
guardian angels from heaven, made the picture all the more perfect. Love, is certainly times like this.
