    More Than a Feeling

Bette stepped out of the car with the cell phone to her ear. "What did you just say to me?"

"I said that Fairbanks chick is hot." Alice repeated.

    "Wh-what about Satan’s Love Child?"

"See now you’re talking apples and oranges here. Huber is a beautiful soul, Fairbanks is hot…and I saw her checking me out."

"Are you sure she wasn’t looking at you because you were looking at her…oranges?"

"Oh believe me Porter, they’re bigger than oranges." Alice chuckled and Bette cringed.

"Well, don’t you do anything stupid."

    "I never do anything stupid."

"That can be argued but I don’t have the time. Listen, I’m right outside Tina’s–"

    "Oh, another hot date huh?"

"Do not, I repeat, DO NOT say or do or say anything to Dana–wait, do you even know if she’s into you like that?"

    "Oh yeah, big time."

    "How can you tell?"

"I know Porter and I’m surprised you didn’t. Oh wait, you were too busy drooling over Blondie."

"I’m hanging up now." Bette said sternly, flipping her phone shut and tossing it in her bag.

Bette stepped up to the Kennard residence once more and rang the doorbell. Again, Jagger ran down the hallway barking as if to say, "Get the fuck outta here!" But then, he stopped. Someone walked to the door and asked, "Who is it?"

It didn’t sound like Tina. "Uh, Bette Porter."

The door opened to reveal Tina’s sister, Samantha. "Oh hey there. You’re just in time for dinner." Jagger looked at Bette and sniffed her hand once before going on his way. Samantha stepped aside as Bette crossed the threshold. "I hope you like baked ziti."

"Oh yeah, I love it." Bette said, partly happy that it wasn’t going to be chili.

"Tina’s in the kitchen setting up the table." Samantha said, pointing the way. Then, she pulled her jacket from the coat rack by the door. "Tina! Bette’s here!" She yelled as grabbed her purse and keys and opened the front door.

Tina came shuffling out. "Hey!" She greeted Bette before turning to Samantha. "Where are you going? Hot date?"

    "Maybe." Samantha teased smiling slyly.

"Well, remember to bring protection." Tina nodded as Bette’s eyes went wide.

Samantha grabbed an umbrella and swung it up in the air. "Thanks for reminding me. Ciao biotch." Then, she left.

    5. I love that Bette said to Tina, “Do you come here often?” when they were in the park. Classic pick-up line, although she didn’t mean it that way…or did she? I feel Bette’s pain and now enter the drama that is Eric. Regardless, I know they’ll be together. Props to you, Manda! You’ve given my TiBette heart new life…and Ilene shall taketh away on Sunday.
