Dana
Alice and I rushed through the sliding doors of the hospital, Alice practically running because she was so excited. We followed the signs to maternity and spotted Shane and Carmen sitting on the plastic chairs in the hallway. Shane saw us and jumped to her feet to greet us with a hug.

“Tina had a little girl about twenty minutes ago” Shane grinned.

“And they’re both okay?” I asked.

“They’re both fine”

“Yay! We’re aunties!” Alice hopped up and down excitedly before pulling us all together in a tight group hug, so tight I could hardly breathe.

“We’re just waiting to be able to see them” Carmen explain when she was released from Alice’s clutches, which sorting her rustled hair and smoothing her shirt “and for the others to get here”.

“Have you seen Bette?” Alice asked.

“Yeah, she came out to tell us” Shane said.

Just then, Kit and Angus met us and we had another group hug. Jenny came up the hall from the coffee machine, wisely putting her coffee cup down on a chair before joining the hug.

After about twenty minutes of chatting happily about what we were going to buy the baby and where we were going to take her, Bette emerged from the door across the hall, a huge smile on her face. We all jumped up and rushed to her.

“Come in” she whispered and we followed her in quietly. As we walked through the doorway we saw Tina sitting up in bed, a tiny bundle in her arms. Tina was also beaming as we crowded around her to take a peek at the small baby, who was sucking her fingers contently, looking completely adorable.

“This is Angelica” Tina told us.

We all took turns at holding the baby. When she was passed to Alice I put my arm around my girlfriend and joined her in cooing and fussing over little Angelica. Seeing Alice holding a baby made me think.

When I was standing with Angelica in my arms and Dana close beside me, I was content. This is when I decided that I want this, someday soon.

Later on, we went shopping to find a gift for Angelica. I went a little overboard on the cuddly toys, buying several small stuffed toys and a huge bear that Dana said wouldn’t fit into the mini but I was sure that it would. We also bought a large and lavish moses basket, the best that we could buy for our new niece.
