Bette and Helena sat quietly, occasionally smiling at one another and causing the other to blush. Their fingers were interlaced when Alice and Dana walked into the Planet.
“Hey, guys!” Alice shouted.
Helena expected that Bette would pull away from her. It made sense that she would—she wasn’t exactly sure if they were ready to go around declaring their mutual attraction. She loosened her grip on Bette, but Bette didn’t budge.
“Hey!” Bette noticed the girl standing next to Alice. She recognized her as Dana—Alice’s new girlfriend, “You must be Dana.” Bette released Helena’s hand only to shake Dana’s.
“Dana, this is Bette and Helena.”
Dana knew those names. Helena was the roommate and Bette was the ex-girlfriend-turned-best-friend. Dana became intimidated instantly by both of them. She couldn’t understand exactly why Alice had neither: A) Slept with her roommate or B) Let Bette leave her.
“I saw you take on Maria Sharapova, not too long ago.” Bette said, “You were really good.”
“Thank you.” Dana was flattered by the compliment. She still wasn’t sure how to quite take compliments, even after the 3 years of playing professional tennis.
“Would you guys like to sit down?” Helena looked at Bette for confirmation that it was okay to ask them that, to which Bette replied by nodding her head and then looking toward the couple in front of them.
Dana and Alice agreed, pulling up seats and sitting with them. After the awkwardness subsided, Dana asked Helena and Bette if they were girlfriends.
“Um…” Both Bette and Helena said, looking towards one another and trying to figure out the status of their relationship.
“I don’t think that…” Helena started.
“We’ve just…” Bette interrupted.
“They haven’t put a name on it, yet.” Alice said, smiling at two of her favorite people, “And they shouldn’t have to because they’re too hot together to try to force them into a label.”
Shane walked up to the table, putting her hand on Bette’s chair.
“Hey, you guys.” She said softly.
“Oh, Shane, this is Dana. Dana, this is my friend Shane.”
“Nice to meet you.”
Dana was slightly taken back by Shane. Shane looked obviously gay and, though Dana was out to her friends, she wasn’t to the rest of the world. Being gay was something that could end her career.

That was very deep thier conversation on how Helena was actually able to get Bette to talk about her past with her mother and admit to Helena she loved her. Now the hardest part is to continue to love and trust one another. cause Bette is the jealous type, who knows what she will do shall someone comes onto her woman. Loved it Ash
awww.well at least B admitted her love for H. and i think that, that is enough to keep their relationship strong unless someone else comes along… but hopefully not! hahah.
Love is in the air, well actually the pool. But I hope the ladies continue to make strives in their budding relationship and don’t let sex be the main focus in it. (I can’t believe I just said that.)
This was fantastic, ash! Loved it! (I left a comment on the other story, but the computer ate it…and I’m too tired to try to re-create it. But I loved that story too…it was a great beginning!) You really are riding the waves of inspiration lately! Kowabunga! :)
Loved the open dialogue, but whenever two people are happy – the drama comes…so do you have any drama waiting for us…looking forward tonthe update!!!
Loved the deep conversation between both women. Bette is falling and she’s falling hard and she knows it. I hope Helena won’t break her heart. PPS thanks
