Lucky in Love (Chapter 25)

Helena watched Wilson and Jun Ying sleep, Lara at her side. She’d been unable to take her eyes off of them from the moment they’d arrived at Color Me Mine to discover that Winnie had left quietly and quickly while Kathleen was still speaking with Helena. She finally allowed Lara to lead her from the room about an hour after sunrise.
“As far as they’re concerned, Winnie came to decorate plates with them,” Lara tried to reassure her once more.
“I know that, but you know she was sending me as message,” Helena replied wearily. “She can get to the children any time and any where, restraining order or not.”
“I know and I wish there was something I could do,” Lara lifted Helena’s hand to her lips and kissed her palm.
“I just wish I knew what she wants.”
“What she’s always wanted, I think,” Lara said quietly.
“The money.” Helena’s voice was flat with the realization that her entire relationship with Winnie had been a lie.
“Yes,” Lara answered, “but have you looked into why it’s so much more important. I mean, up until now, she’s lived very well and has been satisfied with twice yearly increases in child support.”
“Her lawyers are experts at manipulating the system,” Helena said thoughtfully. “And she made a deal with my mother. She wants for nothing…” Helena’s voice trailed off. “My love, you are brilliant. Absolutely brilliant!” She kissed Lara deeply and reached for the phone.
Her distraction was maddening. Bette closed her eyes and lifted her face to her office ceiling with a sigh, trying once again to get centered. She had a lunch meeting with a prospective underwriter for a second visiting artist In less than an hour and she needed to have the budget figures, proposal details and donor profile down cold. Right now, she doubted she had her own name mastered. Her phone chirped and she picked up automatically.
“Bette Porter.” As it turned out she did know her own name.
“Tina Kennard.” A playful voice mimicked her professional manner and brought a smile with it.
“T, you’re just what I need right now.”
“Bad day?” Tina knew that Winnie’s stunt would reverberate with Bette for some time, but she hadn’t been ready to talk about the night before, so she gave Bette her space.

I absolutely looove your Sharmen storyline. It’s amazing to see how much Shane has grown and that she is beginning to come to terms with herself. Even though there’ve been mistakes and even though there’ve been hard times, Shane and Carmen find a way to stick through it. You’ve done an incredible job at developing the story and the characters. Awesome.
ok wow this story is sooooo amaziong i cant even describe it . i love sharmen in this and shane finally realizing how muchshe loves her is amazing i cant wait to see where it goes hopefully to amazing new heights for them. thanx for the post and please post again soon

well thank god someone’s finally thought to keep tabs on miss winnie! glad to see alice is home and doing better. and nice twist with the gossip rags, how could i not see that coming! great update! you asked me if winnie should go to jail? i don’t think that would work. perhaps have her exiled to a desert island instead.

I’m with ClozzyD, every post is better than the one before. I just all-around love this, you have such a way with words and you add the suspense in so nicely. This whole story is a perfect mix of everything it needs to be perfect. I heart it. Officially so.
So sweet… Shane’s changing, I don’t think she has to be so worried that she’s going to hurt Carmen again. And B & T should probably stay well clear of Winnie, cos I get the distinct impression that they’d only make things far worse.
I think that winnie needs a lot of help and I and glad to see that shane is starting to feel more and that she is letting carmen see the real her way to go shane and I am glad that alice is on the road to recovery and I can’t wait to see what will happen next please post soon great update I love it

Sorry I didn´t post last time.The way you are describing the realartionship between Shane and Carmen is f*cking unbelievable. They are careing so much about another that it almost hurts. Thanx for this “hot” update :-)
