Alice reached for her cell phone stumbling over the leg of the I.V. stand in her effort to answer it before it disturbed Tina’s sleep. “Hello,” she mumbled clearly more asleep than awake. “Al! Wake up!” yelled Shane. “Damn, I’m awake now – deaf but awake,” Alice replied irritably. “Look! How are Tina and the baby doing?” asked Shane.
Looking down while struggling to read the time on her watch Alice said “She saw the doctor about an hour ago and seeing that she was in some major pain, he ordered something to help her sleep. He said that she should hopefully sleep through the night. Where are you guys?” asked Alice. “We are just walking into the hospital lobby now,” replied Shane. “Dana said for you to come down here and meet us.” “Fine, be right there girly girl,” said Alice sarcastically.
“O.K. ladies, I am one tired ***** and since everything is fine here I am going somewhere to get some sleep” chirped Alice as she sauntered towards them. Dana suddenly reached out and grabbed Alice by the wrist and pulled her close to her. “Great plan there Einstein, but what are we going to do with Bette?” she said through gritted teeth. “What does Bette want to do?” replied Alice. “She wants to see Tina you moron,’ said Shane. “Ugh guys, I’m standing right here!” said Bette. “You said that she should probably sleep through the night, right? Well then you three go in Dana’s car and get some rest. Al, leave me your car and I’ll catch up with you guys a little later on.” “Does anyone know where the closest hotel is?” asked Dana yawning. “Hotel my *****, I’m staying at Tina’s” said Alice smugly. She has two beds and a couch and I don’t think she requires the use of a Master Card or Visa to be able to sleep there.” “I can find her house again,” said Bette softly. “You can go ahead and I’ll be there in a little while. I’ll be fine it’s just that I want to stay here for a while by myself.” As the women settled into Dana’s car for the ride they suddenly looked at each other and almost in unison said, “She’s going to Tina’s room!” “Well at least now we can try to decide which of the two of them is going to scream the loudest at us. I think Tina will beat Bette to the punch literally,” Shane said quietly.
