Rose joined her in a laugh, as Tina walked up to join them.  Tina was shaking her head, also. Bette reached out to clasp her hand and drew Tina’s hand to her lips.  She whispered something to Tina, which made the blonde blush a little, and giggle.

Bette leaned over to Rose, bending closer to her ear, “I’m sorry I have to check on what’s going on in the kitchen.  We’re setting dinner up right now, and I also need to check on whether we need to replenish the drinks and other things. Hope you’ll excuse me?”

Rose nodded absentmindedly, her sense of smell slightly intoxicated by the attractive scent the brunette wore, as Bette had leaned closer to talk to her.

Bette gave her another warm smile, then pulled Tina for a quick kiss before she walked off, heading towards the kitchen.

Rose leaned closer to Tina, asking, “Her perfume today’s the signature one created just for her?  The one in the handkerchief you lent me that afternoon in playgroup?” Tina nodded, smiling as she pulled on Rose’ arm gently, guiding her towards the staircase.  Rose continued to eye the retreating figure of the sexy brunette, as they headed towards the staircase.

“Wow, Tina” she told Tina, motioning her head towards Bette.  “I mean…wow!  I have to say that even I’m not immune.  Something you must hear all the time, of course!”

“Yup,” Tina nodded, smirking, thinking about Kelly, Sarah, and a number of other women she’d seen or had heard try to make a play for Bette since they’d been together.

As they continued to mount the steps she told Rose that Bette had remained impervious to them, and even in this latest “test” from Kelly and her deep V-cut mini, Tina knew her wife ‘s heart really only beat for her.

“How do you know?,” Rose asked.  While she was sure her own partner had been completely loyal the whole time they’d been together, there had been a time when things had hit a rocky patch between them.

“Um… Bette has a tell," Tina explained, hesitatingly.  Then the blonde smiled, "You see what she’s wearing tonight, right?,” Tina asked.  Rose nodded.

“Just watch her throughout the night,” Tina asked, “and observe what happens when she and I are close together.  Then compare what you see when someone else is close to her.  Particularly any of the attractive women, or even men who sidle up to her tonight.  Later, let me know what differences you pick up, alright?”
