Love Soul Heaven Hell – Chapter III

After a while, Bette whispered, “I love you as far as the moon,” echoing one of the lines in Angelica’s book.  “And I love you until the sun,” Tina answered quickly, borrowing a line from the book also, and smiling, eyes still shut.

“More than life itself,” Bette rejoined.  Tina opened her eyes, hugging Bette closer to her. “That’s not in the book, honey” she protested lightly.

“It’s in my book,” the brunette responded, smiling but eyes still shut, caressing Tina’s arms that held her tight.

“Well…I’ll love you forever, eternally,” Tina whispered, echoing the promise they’d each made to the other, during the wedding ceremony.

They slipped into contented silence, and were giving themselves over to the warmth of the spa pool waters, and the sensual heat increasing between them, when Bette heard the ring of her satellite phone.  Her eyes flew open.  It could only be either Brom or Mike, as they were the only ones who knew her sat phone contact, apart from Tina.

“T, I have to answer that,” she whispered, giving Tina a quick kiss as she sat up, and swam to the pool’s edge to lithely pull herself up.

She quickly slipped the robe the attendant had given her, not bothering to tie it around her as yet, as she walked hurriedly to her bag, which she’d dropped in one of the nearby chairs earlier before they slipped into the water.

    She clicked the phone open.

    “Hello?,” she asked.

“Bette, Bette?,” she heard a faint response.  She was momentarily surprised, as she was to expecting to hear either Brom’s deep baritone or Mike’s calm voice, but the voice over the line seemed to be a woman’s voice, though.  She was trying to place the sound of the voice.

“It’s Katy,” the woman said, after a beat.

“Oh, yes, Katy!,” Bette answered.  Tina had also left the pool, following Bette quickly, and was pulling the brunette’s robe lapels together, and tying the robe shut.  Her eyes were questioning Bette’s as the blonde slipped on her own robe, and tied it together.  Bette nodded her thanks, and reached out her hand automatically, to grab one of Tina’s.

“Bette, Bette…,” Katy’s voice sounded shaky.  “I think Mike’s in trouble.”

    Bette tensed.  “Why, what happened?”
