    Weekend away – Part One

    LOVE AND PRIDE CHP 33

     

    Bette had never really given much thought to how much money she had or how wealthy her father was or how generous he was with her allowance. But as she signed the hotel register it dawned on her that this was one of the greatest advantages to be privileged.

    She was in a new and exciting city with the woman she loved and they had a long weekend ahead of them. A weekend where it was just going to be the two of them without hassles or interruptions -just the two lovers being together. Bette took the key and turned to Tina

    “Okay babe – lets go and see our room “

    Tina was quiet. All the way up in the train they had talked and laughed and enjoyed the scenery as it rushed by them. When they had arrived in the city and Bette had hailed a cab to take them to their hotel Tina began to see just how at ease Bette was with her financial status – Tina would have hopped on a bus or walked – Bette’s automatic reaction was to call for a taxi. When she had seen the hotel Tina really had gone quiet – it was beautiful – it was called The Balmoral which because of her brief reading of the guidebook that Bette had bought before they set off she knew it was one of the best hotels in the city.

     

    In the lift Bette – sensing Tina’s change in mood – took hold of her hand

    “You are not to think about the money okay. This is my birthday treat to myself and I know that without you I would have a rubbish time. Lets just enjoy ourselves eh – you said I could do this for us “

    “I said it was okay and it is. But Bette – this is one of the most highly recommended hotels in the city “

    “I know – I want our first weekend away to be special “

    Tina suspected that Bette would find an excuse regardless of the situation. She knew she only had one course of action

    “Thank you Bette “

    “No – this is a thank you to you for being such a special girlfriend “

    4. Money is a tough one, very very tough – and I see some foreshadowing of perhaps daddy thinking Tina is after Bette’s money. And what part will Helena play in that misperception I wonder?? or maybe I’m guessing wrong. Love these love birds, thanks ally.

    5. I’m happy you posted, but I’m unhappy that Bette is still mad at Helena.. Come on now, blood is thicker than water and though Bette and Helena are not related by blood they are family. I hope they start acting like sisters again soon. Thanks for the chapter ally.

    8. I have a friend who struggles with even receiving cards from others because of money issues. I hope that they can put that behind them and work out things with Helena. I know that drama is just around the corner so they need to have some fun times now.

    14. I hope Tina gets past the money thing. Tina is clearly not after Bette’s money nor is Bette trying to buy her…if you are privy to the resources why not enjoy them. Tina is turning out to be an excellent lover. They love each other and are great together. Young love…there’s nothing like it.

    16. So far Scotland seems a lot like England, but its all good. Once they get out and actually see some Scotland, do you think Bette could be persuaded to get me a nice, wool sweater? I could stand a new one. So what are we going to see when they go out?

    17. Gee funnyone I don’t know…lol. I know I was getting mad when they were questioning her and when she was on the stand…I was like “Leave Bette alone”…lol.

    18. I forgot to mention Jennifer Beals was on a new episode of “Law & Order” last night. She was the celebrity adopter of a starving African orphan. Hmmm, who could they have been referencing?
