    Author Notes:

    The Angels’ season ends.

     Chapter: 41

    The Angels have made it to the final game of the State Championship.  The Angels are challenged by the one team to defeat them this past season.  Tina is handling the attention much better this time around.  She is not rattled when she gets double teamed.  The ladies are calling out the picks and stepping around their defenders before getting trapped, while on defense.  They are also doing a great job of setting screens for their scorers to get better looks at the basket, on the offensive end of the court.

    The Wildcats are having some success early by double and triple teaming Bette.  She has been held to only 8 points by half time.  However, because of her court awareness, she was able to pass to Tina or Karen for high percentage shots.  She has 11 assists in the first half which is a state championship record. The Angels head to the locker room at half time leading by 14.

    The second half was different.  The Wildcats have brought in reserves who’s job it was to stop Bette and Tina by fouling them.  However, both players are doing great at the line.  Bette has hit 11 out of 13 and Tina has made all 8 of her free throws at the charity stripe.

    When it comes down to the last few minutes of the game, the Angels take the lead for good.  The cheerleaders are spurring on the crowd which is mainly comprised of Angels fans.  With each possession the room becomes more and more palpable.  The Angels can taste victory and they are chasing down lose balls and grabbing rebounds when it counts.

    “Ten, nine, eight,….” The crowd starts to count down as Bette grabs her 15th rebound off a Wildcat miss.  She passes ahead to Karen at the half court.

    “Five, four, three…” Karen passes to Tina to prevent from being fouled.  They are seconds away from victory.

    “Two, one,” Tina tosses the ball in the air as the buzzer sounds.

    The Angels win the championship 72-58!!!!!

    The Angels all run to one another and do one big group hug.  The seniors on the team will end their high school careers as state champions.

    3. now that’s a win – win! But the big question now is where is Bette going to school??? Will her and tina be able to handle not seeing each other on a daily basis? and how will Bette be able tp resist all the new lovelyy ladies at what ever college she picks…? post soon, great update as usual!
