Bette is focused like a laser on the owner of the familiar voice, who is seated directly across from her behind their bench.

Helena fucking Peabody.  She is sitting there with a smirk on her face.

She looks directly at Bette and blows her a kiss.

Bette clenches her jaw and tries to shake it off.  Tina is about to shoot the next shot but she misses and Bette’s man is able to box her out and get the rebound. 

‘Shit’ Bette knows she took her eye off the ball and now she is chasing her man down the court.

Coach Sandy yells at her star. “Bette keep your head in the game!”

Bette runs down on defense but her man is a few steps ahead of her and she stops at the top of the key and shoots a three pointer and it goes in.

Now the Angels are only up by 1 with 46 seconds left. Karen inbounds to Syd who brings the ball up the court and passes to Tina on the wing who sees Bette getting a lot of attention in the paint.  Karen sets a pick for Tina and Tina curls towards the basket and shoots and misses.  This time Bette gets the rebound and shoots and is fouled.  Bette goes to the line for the one and one.

Tina is lined up in the same spot Bette was in when she was at the line and she catches a glimpse of Helena behind their bench.  She knew that voice sounded familiar.

‘What the hell is she up too?  Maybe Bette was right about her.’

Bette makes the first shot and is ready to shoot the second one.

“We want another one, just like the other one. Sink it!” Yelled the Angel faithful.  Bette shoots and it is good.  The Angels are up by three.

The opposing team then calls time out stopping the clock at 22 seconds.

“Ok ladies lets play that suffocating defense that got us into the tournament next week, ok?” Says coach Sandy. “Defend the basket, no easy shots. Defense on three.  One, two, three,”……

“DEFENSE!!” The team and the crowd yelled.

The Lady Bears inbound the ball at half court and immediately passes to their 6 foot center, who tries to shoot a hook shot over DeeDee but misses.  There is a struggle for the rebound but DeeDee comes down with it and immediately passes it to Tina.  Bette sprints down the court and cuts toward the basket.  Tina sees there is about   5 seconds on the clock and she fakes a shot and then passes to Bette who goes for a reverse layup and makes it.  The horn sounds and the game is over finally.  The crowd goes crazy.  The Angels win by 6.
