    Lost & Found, Ch 9

TINA-  (She smirks…)  “Ohh…is it curable professor Porter?”

BETTE-  “Totally.  It just takes some time, Ms. Kennard.”  (She looks at her with a serious air…)  “Don’t let it consume you.  Just let it go T.  Just keep searching.  You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain.”

TINA-  “Mmm.” (They share the silence of a few moments.)  “So good luck with the reception.”

BETTE-  “Thanks.  And like I said the other night, come late if you want.  It’s no big deal.  I’ll be there a while even after the party’s over.”

TINA- “Soooo…I should come even as the reception is ending?  What’s the point then?”  (Her eyebrows form an inquisitive look…)

BETTE-  (She’s embarrassed by her loose tongue…)  “Oh no…not at all…I just mean even if you come late…you know…the reception doesn’t just close at a particular time….so you can still get to see everything…you know, come whenever…it’s totally open…the time…you don’t have to worry about the doors closing…you know?”

TINA-  “Yeah.  Ok.  Too bad though, Aunt Beatrice does take precedence.”

BETTE-  “That’s cool.  So…”  (she starts to get up and extends a hand…)  “Shall I walk you to your car?”

TINA-  (She grabs hold of Bette’s arm and hand and allows her to pull her up, and as Tina rises to a standing position she doesn’t negotiate the distance quite so well and almost walks into Bette, who almost pushes her over in stopping her from making a rather full contact.)  “Woo…sorry!”

BETTE-  (Steadying Tina…)  “It’s ok…I’m sorry, I think I almost had us enjoying the sand up close and horizontally…” (Tina chuckles and Bette starts to laugh…both mocha and fair skinned faces a few tints of red…)  “Well, good thing I’m taller.”

    TINA-  “Saved me again Porter.”

BETTE-  “Again?  What did I save you from the first time?”

TINA-  “Remember?…I landed rather unexpectedly at the Planet…kinda lost…”

BETTE-  “Ah yes…when I and Alice, the resident alien and captain of the Lesbian Patrol, helped you get found.”

    TINA-  (Smiling…)  “Indeed.”

BETTE-  “Anytime Ms. Kennard…anytime…”  (Tina’s eyes search Bette’s but the latter set say no more.  Bette walks Tina to her car and Tina gets in, rolls the window down and smiles at Bette.)

TINA-  “Thanks.  Don’t stay on the shore too long…you may get too lost in your thoughts.”  (She turns the ignition.  Bette smiles and watches her drive away.)

    1. Merl this was an awesome update! Something about this line just popped out from the page —- “Bette, when you are engaged in the search of life you can never be lost…you seek and you will find…your heart, your soul, your life. When you’ve stopped looking, when you sit there and move nowhere, when you look around and just let life find you…then, you are lost…” I think if there is one small little “life lesson” if you will, it is just a profound piece right there. Thank you for that lovely shout out. I am very much aware at how meaningful the personal shout outs and opening author’s notes are to the readers. I’ll warn ya though, once you start them, they come to be expected!!!! LOL! Thanks so much for the update Merl, post soon won’t you??? ;-))

    2. Ah crap, I hate when that happens. That “I love you, you like me” thing. But it probably is more rare that the feeling is mutual. It take it that with B & T they will eventually discover the feeling IS mutual.

    3. love the dialog but what “recalcitrant” means? i was too lazy to check my dictionary…and don’t worry, my next chapter is coming and it’s hot and sexy…i think LOL

    4. “Man I hope you’re straight…a quick though painful end for my heart to bear…” – number of times I’ve felt this = countless!thanks for the quick update!

    5. Absolutely love this story. I liked shane being protective of Justine and asserting herself when she corrected the pronunciation of her name, loved it. and, well, your slow dance with B & T is enthralling. you could feel Tina just tripping over every word and Bette having small heart attacks at the thought of what Tina really meant! Please post soon, I’m hooked and I need my fix.

    6. So Bette already knows that feeling of loving someone and they not loving you. So Tina and Bette do share something, the case loving someone who does not love them. I think this time that situation will not be an issue. This story is probably closer to a real life situation than most of the stories. You get the real feeling that they are scared to get to know the other. Tina’s feelings sound so real to me (maybe because I have been there).

    7. I´m glad Justine has Shane as a friend and that S hopefully looks out for her a bit. I think Tina should go to the gala and maybe B+T will realize that they already found each other, they just don´t know it yet. And don´t worry I will keep on reading, this story is too good to miss.

    8. Merlin if i knew the answer, i would tell you. There’s a reason that your the writer and i’m the reader. Now 4 pages where getting somewhere. That was great as aways. I think tina needs to listen to her gut feeling and not with your head, she knows she likes bette, why not take the chance. Love is a fantastic feeling and let the girls find it the merlin way.Thank you just don’t keep me waiting to long

    9. Hey there, i forgot to mention, i’ll take my hat off to anyone that attempts to write a story and for that i thank you!!!!!!!!! thank you

    10. T, it’s not how many words you use, it how they are conveyed. You my dear do an amazing job and I can’t get enough of this story. Thanks for the update.
