Beth Hart – Hold Me Through The Night

"If I whisper my thoughts, would you hear the chanting of my heart?"

She likes the fact that she’s smiling again.  An evening out on town, just her and her date has gone pleasantly enough.  They pull into the driveway as the night looms, with Paige driving and Lara riding shotgun.  Paige parks the car as the two ladies look at one another.  Lara’s still smiling.

Lara: I had a really good time tonight.

Paige returns a smile in kind.

Paige: So did I…  Can I walk you to your door?

Lara: Sure.

They exit the car and make their way to the front porch of the house, holding hands.  Time has passed since the day Carmen took Lara to Camp Imalakaha.  Finally able to move on, she and Paige took an interest in each other.  Tonight, they’re wrapping their date for the evening.  Now at the door, they take each other’s hands and stare into each other’s eyes.

Paige: You know…I have to admit it sucks we’re ending things already tonight.

Lara: Yeah…they should really make these nights longer.

They smile and laugh for a moment.

Paige: Um…if Jared’s still up when you go in, tell him I said, "go to bed."

Paige’s son, Jared is spending the night, hanging out with his friend, Shay.

Paige: I know I shouldn’t say this, but…if you wanted…we could go over to my place for a nightcap…

Lara: I would…but.

Paige: Uh oh…

Lara: No no no, it’s not you.  You’re great…you’re…perfect.  And I really would like to spend the whole evening with you…  I promised Carmen I’d talk with her.

Paige: She okay?

Lara: I guess…  She’s been so busy with her DJ’ing lately.  I just wanna make sure she’s alright.  We’re still…getting over our loss.  And she’s been there for me, so…

Paige: I understand.

Paige smiles as she brushes away a strand of hair from Lara’s left cheek.

Paige: That’s what one of the things I like about you.  You really do care.  And that’s a great quality to have.

Lara: Are you going to be up later?

Paige smiles, mischeviously.

Paige: Maybe.

Lara: You never know.  I might drop by.

Paige: If you can…great.  But if not, I totally understand.  I’m really glad I’ve gotten to know you, Lara.
