Previously:
"I don’t know, but I need to be honest with her no matter what." Jess said.
"That’s all you can do." Tina said.
Jess walked into the team meeting and sat down without saying to anybody. It was obvious to everyone that there was something wrong with her. Cat watched her very closely all afternoon.
After practice, Jess and Shannon rode back to the team house together. Jess hadn’t said much all afternoon and when she did it was only after some one had asked her something.
"Is everything okay?" Shannon asked. Jess sniffed and wiped a tear away that she had been trying hold back. "Is it Laurie and the discussion the two of you had?" Shannon asked.
"It wasn’t much of a discussion is more her telling me how things were going to be." Jess said.
"What happened?" Shannon asked.
"She broke up with me. She is moving to London. She got a job there at the BBC. Her dad got if for her." Jess said.
"I’m sorry." Shannon said.
"I was going to try and make it work. I wanted to at least try and make with her even though I wasn’t sure I wanted to be with her." Jess said.
"Maybe this is for the best." Shannon said.
"It probably is, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less." Jess said.
"I know it hurts but it will get better." Shannon said.
"I know, I think I need to run all this emotion off." Jess said.
"You want to go with you?" Shannon asked.
"No I need to be alone." Jess said. She walked into the team house. Everyone watched her in silence. They all had known what was going on since the day before when Laurie moved out.
"You are going to be alone a lot. Are you sure you don’t want some silent company?" Shannon asked.
Shannon knew that no matter who ended it was going to be hard on Jess. This was the first relationship since Cat that she had invested her whole heart and both times she had gotten broken. She warned Cat when she came back into their lives that if she broke her little sisters heart again she would pay dearly. Shannon remembered Jess and Cat’s relationship fondly. If Cat hadn’t gone to Michigan to school the two would probably still be together. There was no doubt in Shannon’s mind that Cat was going to try and win Jess back. The question was would Jess take her back.

I wonder why Laurie would leave if she wanted Jess to commit more to her. I can understand Jess not wanting to get hurt again by Cat. I like how Shannon is stepping up to protect her little sister. Thanks for the post. Have fun at the beach.

i can’t imagine why laurie go away besides the job, but she was so in love with Jess! anyway i know you will explain it. I hope Cat won’t hurt Jess. i wish you a good time at the beach take care and use some solar cream!

The story is repeating itself, now Laurie leaves Jess. It’s very difficult to build a strong relationship with someone when you’re former g/f is still in your head. I think that’s what Laurie thought when she moved away.
I think that laurie got scaryed that she would lose jess anyway so she made it easy for herself instead of fighting for what she wanted but I still can’t wait to see what will happen next please post soon I love it
Jess needs to pump her brakes since she just got out of a relationship. But the good thing is that she new she didn’t want to be with Laurie forever. If her heart and mind was still w/ Cat, her and Laurie are better off seperated.
This is going way to fast for my taste. Above all I miss the fine details of Bette and Tina. They will not be happy with this development. And is it me and my bad memory, or am i missing the finer details of the previous relationship between Jesse and Cat? It sounds strangely new information to me. Lovely writting.
I can’t believe Laurie broke up with Jess =( I can’t wait to read what happens next.
I think I’m more baffled about Laurie leaving school in general than about the break-up. She could probably tell Jess was considering breaking up with her so she beat Jess to the punch.

i dont think that jess is the one moving too fast.. i think cat is. although she said that she would give jess time to get over laurie she still asked her out which is in a way disrespectful. and i think she knows that jess would have gone…

Charmed, Wow what a way for Jess and Laurie to break up. More of a damp squib rather than the inferno that I thought it would be. Do feel that this made it easy for Jess to move towards Cat and re-establish their relationship. Life is not usually that simple. I am interested in seeing how this new old love affair progresses. Thank you for this wonderful writing and interesting take on all of these well-known characters. Your Loyal (if lurking) Fan.
Again, I am confused, but I’m sure you will explain. My feeling is that Laurie may have been feeling that Jess and Cat were soulmates, but I still wish they were soulmates… :-/ Anyway great chapter!
poor Laurie.. I don’t think she would have left if Jess really wanted to be with her.. was she ‘testing’ Jess to see if they’re really meant for each other? Oh wow.. I donno why I feel for Laurie more than the others now… :(
When she was with Cat before,she was so young.3 yrs can make a lot of different. Laurie lost. thanks

How will Bette & Tina feel about Jess going out again with Cat after she hurt Jess so much? Parents always want to protect their children from heartache if they can.
