Life Happens: America, F** Yeah
“Do what? What are we doing exactly?” She enquired in return.
Bette’s look was incredulous. “What…what the hell do you mean what are we doing? This is huge we’re moving in together!”
Helena thought about it, walking over to scoop the remainder of her clothes off a chair. She laughed to think nothing in her life was the same—never would she have tossed her clothes into a bag without folding them. It seemed symbolic somehow.
“Oh Bette.” Was all she said, shaking her head. “Don’t worry so much.” She leaned over and kissed Bette’s forehead, rubbing her thumb where worry lines formed. “This conversation is making very little sense. Should we get a giant house together just for the sake of getting a house? Why not keep our own places and stay where we like when we like? Why put unnecessary pressure on our relationship?”
“Because it’s symbolic?” Bette replied, unconvinced by her own argument. “Of…commitment…or fidelity….”
“Ew. What on earth is fidelity? Do you want to get married?” Helena stopped, terrified of the response to this question.
“heh, you’re the one throwing wedding dresses at me.”
Bette’s remark earned a knowing smile from Helena. “I apologized for that properly, and a long time ago.” She said. The packing was done, and they had twenty minutes until they had to hail a cab. Helena flung herself on the bed next to Bette and pulled her down for a kiss finally. “Good morning by the way.” She murmured into a warm and still sleepy embrace.
“Morning.” Bette replied, brushing her lips against Helena’s. “Sorry for not helping with the packing…” She pressed her mouth against Helena’s neck, rolling her onto her back.
“Stop apologizing.” Helena groaned as Bette’s thigh pressed in just the right place. She ran her hands along her girlfriend’s back, bringing her chin up for a kiss again. “You’ve certainly done more than enough for me during this trip…” Her voice grew serious and choked at the end.
“Shhhh…” Bette said quietly. “Don’t worry about it…” She pressed her lips to Helena’s collarbone, murmuring her adoration, until a car began insistently honking in front of the apartment.

You gotta love a drunk, rowdy Bette! I’m glad the Bette-dumps-Jodi scene took place offstage; jealous Helena makes for much more entertaining subject matter. As for London vs. NY, it would take a far drearier locale (Sudbury, ON, perhaps) to extinguish the Belena hotness.
Okay, it’s taken me yonks, but I’ve *finally* caught up. Fabulous.
that is perfect!! please keep posting pleas…
Oh yeah …. ok lady, with 2 stories you’ve sufficiently guilted me into writing something, hmn … I don’t mind them being in NY I don’t think, at least Bette ditched Jodi, jealous Helena is kinda cute, darn it … they’re both cute :-D
Family, huh? Sounds like Bette didn’t need that much time or space. Jodie had been good to Bette? (And Tom was the problem? Actually the relationship between he and Jodi might have been interesting to explore.) I guess you’re doing it your way, which is fine by me, I much prefer it to IC’s nonsense. While I’m stating preferences, let me add that I’m all for B & H making a commitment, but I find wedding gowns icky. Faux princess for a day, yuck.
It was about f’n time!!!! lol..I’m just happy to see you back with one of my favorites!!! I love seeing Bette and Helena together–they are amazing together and they are made for each other. I can’t wait to see what happens next with these two ladies!!! PPS VERY SOON!!!!
OMG this chapter was really good, I already read it twice… I don’t have nothing against Jodi, if she had a relationship with Tina or Max I would probably like her… =) THANKS for this chapter helebette !!! I really loved it…
