    Life:
    Altered 03.30 ~ Daylight

    ~*~*~*~*~*

“Give me her vitals.”  The ER doc sang
out as she hopped up next to the EMS
crew that had brought in the 6-car pile up right
outside of LAX.  The blonde doctors’ very
short hair was everywhere, a tussled mass of dark and light blonde.  Her grey eyes darted over the *****
androgynous woman that lay in front of her.
She grinned a half smile and winked at Lexie, the EMT attendant.

The doctor was the workaholic of the Country General ER, she worked 5 days a week, sometimes 18-hour
days, and she’d just been about to head home, then this.  She loved it; every second of the adrenaline
rush reminded her she was alive.  She
slid her quick hands into the latex gloves, and slapped on the BP cuff, taking
the BP herself.  Wanting a compare set to
    the EMT’s.

“Awake at the scene, vitals are 120/66; pulse was 110, head gash, no other sign
of trauma, no bounding or rebound.  Name
    is…”

    “Shane…Shane McCutcheon…”
The woman said, moving to reach for the head wound but the Doctor
stopped her with a quick hand,

“And to think I was about to head home…”
The doctor said with a grin, two nurses setting up new IV lines and Shane
    tried to sit up.

“Ah, no moving till Simon says and Simon didn’t say.”  Shane was told, and Shane‘s head spun, she wasn’t quite sure where
    she was at the moment.

“Look, I’m cool.”  Shane said and the doctor snapped her fingers,

“Right, you are looking left and I’m at your right.”  The doctor said, staring quickly into Shane‘s eyes with a light.

“To much noise, I can’t focus.”  Shane muttered and lay back down, “Doc, I have
    to get to the airport…”
    Shane
muttered, her mind on one single track,
but she wasn’t quite sure what that track was yet.

“All in due time Shane…  Cindy get me a head CT of Miss McCutcheon…  I want a blood panel and C-Spine too…”  The doctor ordered and Shane grabbed at the doctor, finding her hand
as it moved over her arm.

“Please…”  Shane begged, “I need to talk to her before…  I don’t know…  Before I lose my nerve.  I couldn’t tell her that if I went with her,
I was afraid that in a new place, away from our normal lives that I’d fall in
love with her…  You have to let me
    go…”
    Shane
said, and she tried to sit up,
struggling and the Doctor pushed her down.

    1. Well well Miss Janet, I’m glad you didn’t kill off anybody. Jeez, I was actually scared to shit to read this chapter. I also think Alice is sooo soo funny. And Sam, what a wonderful and nice character. I do hope to meet her again in one of your following chapters. Great work as always!
