Lies My Parents Told Me 3

She called me. I trailed off.

I played the message again before getting into the shower and getting changed. I went into the kitchen and I made myself a snack. Afterwards I grabbed the phone in the kitchen and started to pace around the house. I had already committed Katies number to memory know all I had to do was call. Sure it sounds easy but is it ever really easy to call a person that youre just starting to like? It isnt for me. I bit the bullet and dialed her number. I held my breath as the phone rang. Katie answered the phone and for a brief second my mind when blank.

Hey this is Joss and I was just returning your phone call. I replied.

I hope it wasnt too weird that I got your phone number from someone else. Katie replied.

Its fine I shouldnt have left without saying goodbye. I said.

I understand you had to take care of your friend. Katie replied.

    Yeah, I said.

    Yeah, Katie replied.

What are you doing today? I asked.

I was planning on going to the C.A.C thats why I called you this morning. I wanted to know if you would want to go. Katie said.

    Yeah of course, I replied.

I mean if youre busy then thats fine. Katie said.

Im not busy Id like to go with you. I said.

I meet Katie at the front entrance of the C.A.C. I pushed the door open for her and we stepped inside.

My mother use to work at the C.A.C, I said.

Thats funny because my mother used to be on the board of directors. Katie said.

She worked as the museum director before she decided to open up her own gallery. I replied.

Do you think our parents knew each other? Katie asked.

Its a possibility they had to cross paths at least a few time at some type of function. I replied.

Your mother was the museum director here, Katie said.

Yeah uh fifteen years ago, I said.

Why did she quit? Katie asked.

It was a long time ago. She doesnt talk about it. I replied.

Is that why you know all about art? Katie asked.

My mother taught me everything that I know she raised me on art. I replied.

I liked seeing you last night, Katie said.

I liked seeing you, I replied.

    What happens next? Katie asked.

I was thinking we could check out some art. I replied.

    1. I’ve never read nay of your stories before and decided to check this chapter out. I like it; it’s very interesting. It actually reminds me of Romeo and Juliet except is Porter & Peabody. I’m sure things will get very interesting as you write more.
