    Let it Ride- Chapter 9

    Chapter 9-

Alice woke with a start as her head slipped from it’s resting place in her palm. The sudden motion jolted Dana in the seat beside her and the tennis player looked over in surprise.

Shane watched from the seat on the other side of Alice as the musician hurriedly wiped at her mouth and cleared her throat. The professor hadn’t noticed but some of their classmates were snickering. The amused gawkers quickly turned away when Shane glared at them.

Dana leaned in closer to Alice and whispered, "Al, you okay?"

Alice nodded authoritatively, giving Dana a small, reassuring smile. Brushing her hair out of her face, Alice whispered back, "Yeah. Just got bored, I guess."

Shane accepted the explanation, turning back to her open book and scratching idly in the margins with her pencil. The professor continued to drone on about something related to Greek architecture but Dana was watching Alice peripherally. Dana wasn’t officially worried. Alice had been insanely busy with school, the band and making mad, passionate love to Dana at least once a day. Dana smirked at her final thought and decided that Alice definitely had good reason to nod off occasionally. Still, her face seemed a bit paler than usual and she had been sneezing quite a bit. Not to mention the fact that she’d nodded off in the car the other night when they’d been having a conversation not two minutes before.

Alice saw Dana watching her and she felt herself grin. Dana reddened and turned back to the professor, berating herself for missing at least a half page’s worth of information.

Alice grabbed Shane’s pencil, having neglected to bring one of her own. Ignoring Shane’s supremely annoyed gaze, Alice quickly darted her hand over and wrote in the margin of Dana’s notebook paper, "I’m fine. Just sleepy."

Dropping the pen back in Shane’s open hand, Alice settled back into her seat, smiling to herself when she felt Dana’s knee brush hers under the table. She thought it might have been an accident but her smile widened when Dana’s denim clad leg rested against Alice’s and stayed there.

The tennis player caught Alice’s pleased expression and smiled back. The gesture was small; only a fraction of what Dana longed to do. Still, it was a shrewd move on her part. The seating in the room was such that the level above them would have their view obstructed by the backs of the next row’s chairs. Bette and the professor would have their views blocked by the students in the rows ahead.

    1. This was great. Even though B&H wanted to be right they couldn’t help but notice how hot the other was. And Alice,Dana&Shane reaction was so real. Thanks for the update!!

    2. WOW…Let’s just say that Operation Hellcat Pissaco went down the drain! lol Bette and Helena are so much alike it’s scary, but what will happen with the dinner between the two Alpha ladies??? Will TK reappear or will she stay in the dark?? Wonder what redhead Shane was talking about, hopefully it’s not L. Anyways, as for Alice and Dana, I love the little part in the classroom–a little nap. I’ve done it a few times myself, but anywho, really hope that Alice isn’t getting sick bc it would be a bummer if the show would get canceled. Maybe A should slow down, so she doesn’t end up passing out or something like an illness. But I know you wouldn’t disappoint me! I’m glad that you’re still enjoying my story, and thanks once again for this great chapter. PPS.

    3. Haha, looks like Alice’s weirdly thought out set-up might produce some sparks after all. I really hope you’re planning to out Ms. Fairbanks a tiny bit if Al should get famous. If not, that’d be sad for the both of them. I mean, she doesn’t have to shout it from the rooftops, but a little open affection toward her rock-star girlfriend wouldn’t be the end of the world. But I dunno, I’m writing her long after she’s come out so this is new to me. Anyway, I adore the cuteness of Danish and the funniness of Shane. The two privileged birches duking it out over poetry publication dates didn’t do much for me, but then, I despise pretentious people so that might have a tiny bit to do with it. I’m so not a type A with a need to be correct. And Texas, huh? I’m not too terribly far from you. Go America…or something. Haha. Anyway, post soon and all that jazz. I’m babbling my ass off, but it’s after 4am so at least I have a slight excuse.

    4. Whoa Frip I see that this luch date of sorts was so great I loved it,,Bette actually wring and Helena being gracious about it and then to have them actually go out on a date,,,LOL. I can only imagine when both women find out that they ahd been put together by their friends,,great chapter there frip, but is Al getting a cold and if so this is not good at all!!!

    5. ooohh operation hellcat picasso! I am loving this, I can not wait for your next update. I hope Alice will feel better soon. I’m glad I checked in here, I’m almost late for dinner(pathetic) but I am by no means regretting that I paused to read.x0x

    6. Been there, done that, and even got several T-shirts from different bars. I have also left the contacts in my eyes countless times because of some serious partying. Now I just wear glasses most of the time and I won’t have to deal with seeing through fog in the morning or afternoon or evening after. You are not deluding yourself. I feel the same way. It was quite obvious when D turned away from A after hearing about the date with Chandra and what she said as Alice was leaving for her date. Also when they were out shopping on the way to see Dr. Love. God why couldn’t they let her live? I must have asked myself a thousand times. The truth is I frequently re-watch the entire 3 seasons, focusing mostly on Danish. Now you tell me how pathetic I must be. I shall get to Goldrun15 this weekend. And thank you for postponing the red head. There is another story out there right now with D having her 1st time with L not A. I was stunned because A was with Tasha. But there had to be something between A & D. I couldn’t find myself commenting on that story. About the deleted scenes, you can put a few together in a chapter. I am sure it will be a blast because of the way you imagination and writing. Anyway back to this chapter. I really wonder how much they learnt in class with all the distraction. I couldn’t stop chuckling. Operation Hellcat Picasso = Operation Hell Piss-Her-Off. I was just about to give A, D & S an A for the effort for trying to set B & H up as consolation prize. Then you surprised me with a dinner date. This was fun to read. Now I can retire for the night. Thanks again for another sweet Danish night cap.
