“Let’s go honey, we’ve got a lot to do today,” Tina whispered, stroking Bette’s arm affectionately, as she reluctantly crept to the edge of the bed, and stood up. She pivoted towards Kit, to give her Angelica’s baby lotion, which she had just carefully reapplied on the sleeping girl’s arms.  Bette waited a beat longer before straightening up also, casting a lingering look on the sleeping, peaceful form.  Unable to resist, she bent to give Angelica one last kiss on her cheek, whispering, “See you later angel.”

She felt Tina tug at her hand, “C’mon baby,” Tina whispered.

Kit was talking to Tina as they walked to the apartment’s front door, Bette trailing behind, checking her large bag for items she would need that day.  “Are you sure you have everything under control over there?,” Kit was asking Tina.

“We think so, yeah,” Tina said.

“You girls aren’t even going to have coffee or something here before you leave?,” Kit pressed.

“Thanks, Kit, but Lara is meeting us in half an hour in the duplex, and we’ll need to get a million things ready before tomorrow’s party,” Bette said quickly, as she pulled her winter coat on.  Tina was already waiting for her by the door.

The brunette gave Kit a quick kiss on her cheek, brushing her arms quickly up and down to assure her. “We’re grabbing coffee and bagels at the corner, don’t worry,” she smiled warmly.

Kit grumbled, “Oh, okay. Well, Shane and everyone else will be heading to the duplex as soon as they get up, so that they can help you.  Don’t kill yourselves trying to get everything done before they get there ok?!"

“Don’t worry, Kit.  We won’t.  And I’ll make sure Bette gets some rest today,” Tina answered her, shaking her head at Bette as they walked out the door.  She blew a kiss at Kit before pulling the door shut behind them, “We love you.”  Tina had told Kit that Bette had been working non-stop on various items in their duplex over the past two weeks, often spending whole days on her feet, as she oversaw often frenetic activity in the duplex, including ensuring movers to care to pad surfaces of all the furniture being moved to ensure all the new flooring and wall treatments wouldn’t be scratched. She also oversaw proper mounting of all the art, installation of all the chandeliers and other custom-made lighting features.
