Chapter Six
Tina knew all the signs – she knew her body and she knew the truth. The hard and painful truth that her period was starting. She was sitting in The Planet at lunchtime with Alice, Shane and Dana – Bette was due to arrive after putting in a Saturday morning at CAC. She rubbed her stomach and felt the familiar feeling of bloating and the dull aching pain at the base of her lower back. Yes – her period had arrived. She got up and slipped off to the toilet to confirm her fears. Alone in the cubicle she sat on the toilet seat and began to cry – another month and she wasn’t pregnant. That was hard enough to take but this month’s period was the most painful blow yet -because it meant that their gamble on Pete Smith had been a failure. The biggest gamble of her life had failed – they had both been so sure that if they got sperm by whatever means and they used that sperm while she was ovulating then she was going to get pregnant. As Tina sat alone her mobile buzzed telling her that a text message had arrived for her. She opened her bag and retrieved the phone – a message from Bette – just setting off – see you in 10 mins. I love you B x.
Only Bette could be such a pedant that she couldn’t use text shorthand – it was something that she admired about her wife. Tina knew that this would deal a harsh blow to Bette as well. Bette was sure that Tina was pregnant – she had talked about taking a sabbatical from work so she could take care of Tina and the baby. CAC was taking an increasing toll on Bette – Tina had seen the difference in Bette during the last six months. She had given up her job at the same time as Bette’s job had become harder with CAC finding it harder to secure the prize exhibits and Bette becoming the scapegoat from Franklin and an increasingly hard to please board.
Bette had admitted that the prospect of becoming a mother was one of the reasons she was putting up with so much shit – she wanted to be a better parent than she had experienced as a child. Tina dried her eyes and reached for her bag.

Aww. I liked the ending. Tim is a really good guy..plus he is definitely hot. I would have liked this one to go one longer..and see Tina finally pregnant but I could get into you writing some short stories. Its nice to have an ending sometimes.
Yeah albeez, she may not have had the model-like looks of the screeching all-American Russian, but she moved with incredible lightness and grace and radiated joy. She was a pleasure to watch both on court and in interviews.
AllyE, great story and the ending absolutely shocked me, never would have thought of Tim as the donor.
ally i loved this… and for your info… i have the piolet script from showtime… in the original ep. tim was one of the guys they wanted to ask to be a sperm donor… but they didn’t out of respect for jenny coming into the picture…

Wow what great ending and tina is right it brought them so much closer…. you definitely need a sequel…
For an Ivy League girl, Bette can be a bit short on logic. She didn’t want to use a sperm bank because she needs to know the ‘aura’ of the father, yet she brings Pete into the picture to fuck both her wife and her mind and only investigates him after the fact. Personally, I think they are MUCH better off without a pregnancy resulting from that bizarre encounter and are lucky nothing worse seems to have come from it either. Tim wouldn’t be a bad way to go I suppose, but I really think B & T need to look at themselves before they renew their attempts to be parents, because that whole thing was just crazy. Now on to the important stuff: Steffi Graf had a fine body (still does), but for overall cute, I’m going with Evonne Goolagong. I know, that one has about 75% of the readers scratching their heads, but she did win 7 Grand Slam singles titles back when.
Nice offer but potentially problematic. Tim seems like the type to want to be a very hands on parent and I know Bette and Tina don’t want interference from the bio dad. I hope there is a sequel because you really can’t leave us with that little ditty without closure.

sad to see this end, after all it was one of the very few stories here that was light, as well as showing a committed couple. oh well life is change so I tend to go with the flow, so bring on the ideas you got, am waiting!!!
I always wondered why they didn’t ask Tim…and i’m glad that Pete’s sperm didn’t do the deed, unfortunately painful for Bette and Tina. But I love the Boo…is there any way…Bette gets pregnant and Boo is born that way??

Why Ally WHY!! Did you have to finish this magnificent story? God I loved it, you are brilliant, what happened to them was painful after all the trouble that they have been through for them to have their own baby but I must agree, the lesson was more precious than the expected outcome, really Ally it’s unfair to stop at this point, I mean the story was going to an interesting direction, can you reconsider.All my love Hun, have a good week.
