Just The Girl – Chapter Seven (a HYD-inspired fic)

"I’ve missed you." Helena smiled as she pulled back a little to look at Sam’s face.

Sam smiled sincerely as she met Helena’s gaze. "I’ve missed you too." She said, her voice lower than usual as it dripped with unsaid emotions.

Helena held on to Sam’s gaze for a few more seconds before pulling back entirely. She didn’t see the disappointed look on Sam’s face as she ended their physical contact. "Bette!" Helena screamed as she opened her arms out to the girl standing a few feet behind Sam.

"Helena." Bette simply said before breaking out into a huge grin. She also drew her arms out to meet Helena in a hug.

"You look good." Helena surveyed her friend as she pulled back and put Bette in arms length.

Bette smirked. "Of course, did you expect anything less?" Bette said smugly.

Helena laughed as she rolled her eyes. "Alice! Shane!" She shouted as she grabbed the two by their necks and pulled them to her for a group hug.

Sam looked at the group with a hint of sadness and a tad bit of jealousy in her eyes. She was reminded again of her place in Helena’s life. She was just a friend. A close childhood friend. That is all she is, and that is always what she would be. Was their relationship doomed to be always platonic? Sam looked at Helena from a few feet away as she chatted with the other three. Unrequited love sucks, and it hurts like hell too.

    Sunday Noontime

"Miss Helena Peabody." A servant announced as she opened the double doors.

Helena removed her sunglasses as she was ushered inside Bette’s room. Well, it wasn’t really a room. It was more like Bette’s personal palace. It was literally a mansion within a mansion. There was a mini-theater (with only four seats, Helena laughed as she peeked inside the theater room), a private bar stocked with all kinds of beverages (Strawberry milk? Really Bette, Helena thought as she opened the ref), a small kitchen and dining table (again, only big enough for four people, Helena noted), a little gym, an entertainment area stocked with game consoles, a huge patio, a big bathroom, and an even bigger walk-in closet. The servant bowed before she left the Peabody heiress and made her way towards the double doors to Bette’s ridiculously spacious bedroom to call her master. Helena looked around her and studied the artwork inside Bette’s space. She had been here a lot of times in the past but the paintings and the sculptures that were displayed never failed to fascinate her. Aside from the few selected pieces that Bette loved, most of the art inside her room were rotated on a weekly basis. Sometimes even on a daily basis, depending on Bette’s mood.
