"I just want you to pass a little message for me.." Alice smiled sweetly at the girl. "Think you can do that?"

Overhearing their conversation, Shane groaned loudly and looked pointedly at her friend. "Stop it Al." She shook her head reproachingly, breaking away from her girlfriend’s arms. She turned to Janice and sent the girl away with an apology. When the girl was out of earshot, Shane looked back at her friend and reprimanded her. "What were you going to do? Order everyone inside this room to look somewhere else?" She raised an eyebrow at Alice.

"Yeah. Got a problem with that Shaney?" Alice crossed her arms defiantly. In her opinion, there was nothing wrong with throwing her weight around from time to time – especially in a situation like this. Porter doesn’t need other people bringing more drama to her now, dammit! Alice thought angrily, feeling protective of her friend.

"I do actually." Shane bit back. "This is not your party Alice. It’s Helena’s. So don’t even try to create a scene." She admonished the blonde. "You’re just going to ruin it for everyone." Shane added. "If Bette is bothered by all the attention, you know she would have done something by now." She shrugged as her girlfriend began to drag her away to a more private place.

"Fine." Alice huffed, relenting to the argument of her bestfriend. She hated it when Shane was right. Oh well, at least one of us is sensible, she thought. Bette would have skinned her alive if her little deed interrupted her dancing time with Kennard. With a resigned sigh, she resumed her interrupted conversation with her brand new boy toy just as the slow music faded out and was replaced by lively ballroom sounds.
